  1. I've gotten mine at the dollar store and Micheal's. I give a sheet to my 3 yr old and a piece of paper and he peels and sticks to his hearts content. It buys me thirty minutes with my olders! Well worth it for me!

  2. Traci, I hope you slept better.

There are quieter machines and possibly masks if you two can't adjust to the one he has.  OR your dh's mask might need an adjustment.

(My dad has one now that you can't hear and my mom longs for the old one that added white noise, but anything is better than his snore/gasp/scary-breath sleeping pattern.)  If my dad visits without the machine, we can hear him through the walls, no one else sleeps and it's terrifying to listen to :grouphug: .

I did sleep better last night! He didn't. It may take a while to get used to the mask. The machine itself is very quiet.

WHAT???  I fell in love with my husband's cpap the very first night.  Even my daughter, who sleeps two rooms away loves Dad's CPAP so much she sewed a cozie for the hose (cozie + heated coil = condensation issue resolved!).

I cannot imagine not loving a little white noise over . . . what we had before.  In fact, I feel this so strongly that I wonder if there isn't something wrong wiith your husband's CPAP.

Brand new CPAP. I am used to his snoring. (It's white noise for me) He does have severe sleep apnea, so I am glad he got it. He is a very restless sleeper and pulled the tube out last night. It made a whistling sound. I know he didn't get much rest last night either. Hopefully tonight will go better.

  4. My dh just brought home his Cpap machine yesterday so last night was his first night sleeping with it. It was a bit like sleeping with Darth Vader! How long before I will get used to this thing! I know it is for his health, but I got to sleep! KWIM?

  5. Happy Birthday! Mine was yesterday. I have had similar issues with the time of year my birthday falls on. My favorite one was being on a road trip and getting a call from my step-father not to wish me a happy birthday but to yell at me because my 18month old had given my mom a cold that turned into a respiratory infection. I hope your day turns out to be very special!

  6. could you take the 'scenic' route and go down whidby to the ferry to mukeltio? or is the bridge north of the cut off to anacortes? (I'm not sure exactly where the bridge is - just the general, between mt vernon and burlington)

Head down 5 to Cook Rd. cut over to 9. Take 9 south to Lk. McMurry and cut over to 5. It won't be that much out of your way!

  7. I saw that last night. reports were there were only three cars at the time. could have been worse. what I read on the rating was it was more about lack of shoulders and insufficient height, but was otherwise considered safe and stable. if it was hit by an oversized truck (I hadn't heard what happened) - someone's insurance is really going to be paying out. sort of like the truck driver who hit the pergola in pioneer square.

a few years ago after a piling on the 520 bridge was hit by a barge and was closed for a few weeks, surface street traffic was a nightmare for a month. (and I wasn't even taking it!) I hope you're able to get where you need to. My understanding is there aren't good options up there to cross the river that can handle the I5 detour volume.

Yes, it could have been so much worse! Thankfully most of our activities for the year are done. Traffic will not be fun. They are saying it could be up to a year to rebuild it.

  8. Also glad to hear that there were no fatalities.

But this is a sad reminder that the infrastructure of this country really needs upgrading.

Yes, this bridge was built in 1955, I think. It apparently has a sufficiency rating of 47/100. Not a good number. They say an truck with an oversized load hit it.

  9. Wow! I live ten minutes from the bridge that collapsed Thursday night. I take that bridge multiple times a week even daily. Usually would have been on that bridge about the time it collapsed but our music classes ended last week. This is going to make traffic a night mare! So glad there were no fatalities!

  10. yucabird has this correct. Unless he is going to be in the jungle, my guess is that bottled water, bottles of coca cola, etc., will be for sale, everywhere, and he should drink that. If he is going camping in the jungle, that's another matter and the water purification thing (check out Boy Scout stuff), would be good to have. However, I would hate to depend on it working properly and it not working properly. If he was older, he could drink Beer..... I hope he has a very safe trip and a wonderful time in Guatemala.

NOTE #1 : Be sure that he registers, on the web site of the ACS (American Citizens Services) on the web site of the U.S. Embassy in Guat. City, so if there is an emergency, they know he is there and how to contact him. NOTE #2: Because of his age, if he is traveling without *both* parents, you may need to provide some documents to him, to satisfy both U.S. authorities and Guatemalan authorities. Check that out, on the U.S. Department of State web site, and with the Guatemalan Embassy in Washington, DC or your nearest Guatemalan Consulate. (I assume that if a 16 year old arrived here in Colombia, alone, without that kind of documentation, they would be sent back to the USA, on the next flight),

He is going with a group of 21. They will be in Guatemala City most of the time with activites in different places. Not sure the drinking age in Guatemala. ;) One of the group leaders was strongly recommending a water bottle with a purification filter.
