  1. When the kids were little we joined an Alphy's Road to Reading program where they would get up in front of a group of kids and tell about that book they had read. Then the group morphed into more of a speech group. They learned how to give different types of speeches once a month on various topics, pretty informal. During the last two years my older two have joined a formal speech and debate league. On does speech and debate one does speech only. My twelve year old is joining this year. I have been so encouraged by their progress. I am one who took a 0 or didn't participate due to fear.

  2. This area is about half hour/ forty five minutes from our house. We like to take drives in the summer and have driven that road many times. I know people that are waiting to hear about loved ones. This is quite devastating and sad. They have the National Guard and FEMA now to help. I am afraid that it is pretty much a recovery mission now.

  3. We are going to the 10am showing tomorrow.  I would much rather make them wait, but it seems like cruel and unusual punishment.  Then again, the 13yo thinks having to get up early on a Sunday is cruel and unusual punishment, but she will have to get over it.  Here if you go before 12pm the tickets are only $5.50.  Did you guys see 2D or 3D?  Did you feel that 3D would make it better?

I went to the 2D as I don't enjoy the 3D as much. Our theater is 6.50 before noon. I miss when it used to be 4 dollars before noon!

  4. So you'd think it is age appropriate for a 5 yo? I briefly glanced at the reviews, and it said PG? DH wants to take DS9, and I wasn't sure whether DD5 should go with them or no.

Yes, there is action and cartoon type violence. My four year old sat spellbound. He is big into Lego!

  5. UGH!

My 10 yo DD is a Seahawks fan and it KILLS me to see adult men (Sherman?  the guy with the Seahawks) modeling such pathetic, unsportsmanlike behavior.

I don't really follow football and don't care who plays in the Superbowl.  But, I do care when adult role models behave like obnoxious brats in public.  Shame, shame, shame on them.

Is anyone in Seattle calling them out on their crappy behavior?

I have read a couple articles about it. One written by Sherman. Sounds like it is not just one sided and blown a wee bit out of proportion.

  6. I could not care less about football, but I was really afraid the entire city of Seattle would blow up, no matter whether they won or lost.  People here have been crazy all week!  I even saw a woman who had a pair of heel painted in Seahawk colors with the Hawks logo on them.  WHAT?  Why would you do that to a pair of beautiful shoes?  :scared:

Yep, the air was definitely static with the tenseness before the game. Just wait the next two weeks will be worse.

  7. Thanks for checking on me. Still spotting off and on very lightly. I don't have any cramping. Going to make an appointment to get checked. Thanks for all the encouragement. I have never spotted with any of mine before so this is new territory for me.
