  1. I'm pretty new, but where all did you check? Out of print items are often available online - though some searching may be required. Also, your library may have items there that you could use.
  2. I need to know what to use for writing curriculum with my 3rd grader (8 years old). I ordered "The Complete Writer: Writing With Ease" book, but I have not ordered any workbooks as of yet. I am trying to decide what will be best for him. From reading, it sounds as though the workbooks for WWE focus on the actual ability to write (physically). I may just be completely misunderstanding what I read... Is this correct? My son is very intelligent and slightly hyper. He knows all kinds of facts and information and loves to write them down. He also has good penmanship. I need a curriculum that will help him to gather his ideas and write a paragraph/paper that flows well. His hyper-active mind gives him trouble here. His writings bounce around from one subject to the next and back again. Any help is appreciated!!
  3. Thanks so much! It can all be a little overwhelming while you are trying to get started. So glad I found this forum! :001_smile:
  4. Ok, so I am completely new to this, but my 3rd grade son is completely bored in school. He is much more advanced than the work he is given. He is in the Gifted/Talented Program at school, which he says is the only class he really likes. Anyway, he reads very well, does math very well and soaks up every fact about history and science quickly. He's bored!!! I bought the book and have read the parts for elementary (Well-Trained Mind). I have a few questions. For instance, in relation to spelling, do I need to have him go back and run through the Spelling Workout books for lower levels (A&B) or just start him at C since this is for 3rd grade? I don't want him to miss anything because I skip - but he already aces every spelling test he ever has and can spell words most people I work with cannot even spell. Also, in the reading curriculum, should I start him out with the Ancients he should have been reading in 1st grade? Or, should I have him start with Late Renaissance/Early Modern, as is recommended by 3rd grade. Hate that I am starting late to the game with this, but so happy to have found this book and this forum!! :bigear: I'm all ears. Thanks for any advice!!
