We are doing SOTW 1, and I just received History Pockets. I don't really know anything about Famous Figures of Ancient Times. The History Pockets were recommended by several people and other sites... Hope you get some better answers. I'm interested to hear, as well.

Being new to all of this, it seems like I'm learning more than he is, because I have to figure out what the heck I'm doing with all of these different lessons. (Scheduling wise - I get the concepts... for now. Ha!) Thank you. I think I will follow your advice. Leave the HIG alone unless I need it. I let him go at his pace. Usually he is faster than I thought in the first place. He likes math. I get math, but I don't want to just do problems for fun... He does! :tongue_smilie:

I want to switch to the Standards Edition once I use what I have already purchased.

I am looking for suggestions for Logic for a 3rd grader. My son wants to argue every point about everything (no exaggeration). If I'm going to have to argue with him constantly, I would at least like for his arguments to be sound, coherent, and well formatted. :lol: Any suggestions for this age? Any resources that may be free or cheap?

I'm using the U.S. edition. So, it sounds pretty organized, then. I meant to bring it with me to work so I could look at it during some down time, but I left it this morning. Could have just been that my brain was officially shut off for the day when I was readig it last night... :glare:

Ok, so I recently purchased Singapore Math and sat down with the books last night. Mind you, I had a toddler jumping around, but it seemed a little overwhelming to me. Not the concepts so much, just my part in this. There was so much on each page, and it seemed like it was all just thrown out there... Maybe I was just tired. Super busy work day, then karate with my son, dinner, and a crazy toddler. :tongue_smilie: For those who have used Singapore math, did it seem organized to you and easy for you to present? Do you have advice on how to "tackle" it? Strategies? Thanks. BTW, my son (8yo - 3rd grade) is very good with math and likes to do math problems. He wants to just pick up the workbook and start doing problems....

To get a truly unbiased approach, I would suggest using timelines of history to guide you through subjects. Then, create a book list that takes you through the timeline/subjects. Find books from various authors and points of view. I know that is vague, but it is almost impossible to not have bias in your resources. You try to find resources with minimal bias while utilizing several sources to balance the biases out. You get a balanced approach this way, in my opinion. Bias will always be there somewhere...

Hi! I am wondering what others use for Bible lessons or curriculum for young toddlers (19 months). Something to get them learning about the Bible and God but that also keeps their attention... I am a Christian, but I did not grow up in a household where the Bible was read or anyone went to church for the most part. I am working on building my knowledge, but I figure I can learn as I teach the kids. I purchase TGS to help with my 8 year old, but I'm completely lost as to what I can do with my toddler... Any advice? I want something that holds my hand (if possible) since I am learning along with the kids. :confused:
