  1. My mom swears the thing that helps hers stay in check the most is exercise. I can't remember her numbers but at one point her doctor seriously wanted her to take medication (she didn't) and now it is borderline normal. She does elliptical or Zumba in the morning for an hour and an hour of brisk walking at night, 7 days a week. Also while she doesn't eat extremely low carb she does avoid sugars and carb loaded foods and has protein with every meal. She is 65 and has had type II diabetes for about 10 years.

  2. Me too.  My Pampered Chef can opener is at least 10, closer to 15 years old.  Still works.  And no sharp edges.

Yes! I think mine is at least ten years old and going strong.

I have had my Pampered Chef one for ages and love it.

Yep, yep. I love my Pampered Chef can opener.

  3. I'm going to be a grandmother in February. The thought definitely makes me feel old, but I'm in the best shape of my life and feel no different than I did in my 20s. Except I might forget more things. :D Still I don't like thinking about it.

  4. We had our first hard freeze a couple weeks ago, and our heat has been going at least some of the time for a month at least. Some of you are pretty hard core. I like my house about 72 in the winter and I let it get up to 85 in the summer before I'll turn on the AC. It is 72 right now I have on a long sleeve shirt, thick hoodie, jeans, and fuzzy lined slippers. I should move south.

One of the things I noticed about the participants in the patriarchal group is that almost without exception, all of them were raised in non-Christian homes.  They had not seen how Christian life works itself out in daily practice and were of a particularly zealous nature, and so they grabbed onto something that had a lot of rules to follow.

This is something I have noticed as well. Strict rule followers and particularly legalistic people are often people who were not raised in the faith. They don't know heresy when they see it. This makes them vulnerable and easy to control and lead astray.

That was true in my case. I had no spiritual foundation and they had *the* Godly path. :001_rolleyes: I was also one whose dh didn't agree, thanks be to God. B)

  6. I don't support something I'm not supportive of. I used to try to tow that line but no longer. I would say, "good luck!" and my support would end there. My husband gets a lot of random ideas (inventions NOT MLMs, lol), he's welcome to try them if they won't bankrupt us (and he's way more conservative with money than I so it's not a concern I have). I have been his cheerleader in the past for his crazy ideas, we are no further ahead and he is no happier and I don't do that anymore.
