  1. I just discovered the Writing Road to Reading and it sounds excellent...but the only negative I have read is that it is difficult to teach. Does/did anyone have this experience? I would love to know as it is very expensive. Also, I am SO confused about the other programs that "compliment" WRTR. These other programs are supposed to take WRTR and make it more user friendly. But you have to buy the WRTR manual ALSO. If anyone has any advice on how to incorporate WRTR without spending tons of money, I would really appreciate it. :) And, should I get the original WRTR or buy one of the offshoots like The Phonics Road to Spelling and Reading, or Reading Works.... Thanks!!!
  2. So sorry for the post in the wrong board. I am new to this forum and am learning the ropes.
  3. I am new to homeschooling this year. I would like to have a solid LA program for my dd (8) who is in 2nd grade and my b/g twins who just turned 4. My dd probably would like the multi-sensory SSRW, I think, but I have never seen it in action, so its hard to tell if its a good fit. She can read simple chapter books, but I think she needs more phonics, which is why I found SSRW. BUT it is a complete LA program? Does it lack in writing sentences? How is the spelling and grammar? I like the reviews on First Lang Lessons and Writing with Ease, so I am considering these instead. Of course, I would then have to also find a spelling book and a phonics program too. Would anyone recommend Hooked on Phonics? Would I do FLL, WWE, Spelling AND Hooked on Phonics (or some other phonics program)?? For the past 3 year, she used Explode the Code at her former school. Maybe that is all I should get for phonics? As for my 4 yr olds, should I do a SSRW K program? or any other recommendations? They both enjoy sounding out the letters of the alphabet, and my ds has read some 3 letter words. However, they have not gotten into writing the letters much. I dont need to push them, but I want to provide them with some appropriate curricula. I feel like I have concentrated so much on my 8 yr old, that I have neglected what they will do.... Thanks for any advice!
