  1. I was responding to your post where you state

so you were referring to the original Bodies exhibit for which the bodies had been obtained by the police without consent. This fact has been established and the company was forced to put a disclaimer with their exhibit.

oh jeez I thought we were talking about the exhibit now not before if you bring up everything wrong in an organization even after they have fixed it you would not be able to go anywhere.

  2. Not a big deal??? Your wish to donate your body is quite a different thing. The big deal here is that the dead who are being exhibited did not donate their bodies - their bodies were taken without their or their families' consent. They are the bodies of prisoners whose remains did not get released to families, but taken and sold by the Chinese police.

Having grown up in a totalitarian regime where political dissenters would just disappear in prison, the idea of a family member dying in prison and his corpse being sold so it could be displayed in America actually seems like a very big deal to me.

Well right now that what you THINK is happening but the official statement disagrees if bodies were taken without consent sorry. If they were taken with consent their choice. As far as bad governments trust me my grandparents and most of my extended family came from a government like this and I have heard the horror stories that make your skin crawl. It must have been awful for you and for that I am very sorry :(

  3. I was dying to go see it but I was around 11 when it came to town so my mother was not to keen on the idea. I did not see the big deal because I read medical texts all the time. I really like that display it was so interesting and really I did not care about the bodies because well... their dead. I plan on donating my organs and body so Its not a big deal.

  4. What states homeschool laws do you follow? We move around a fair bit while dh is contracting and will expect to continue for as long as there is this type of work. We have a house and I expect that we will homeschool per the state that is our "home" which is where our drivers lic and insurance, etc is from.

We are technically Florida homeschooling. The only thing we cant do is take yearly tests because we are moving but I take other nation wide test since I am in high school.

  5. I met a family in Arizona a few years ago who had just bought a house after doing this for many years! I was fascinated by the idea. The traveling, not the nursing. :) Does your dad also work? In that family the dad schooled the kids.

This is what I want to do. Even with my lovely new workbox rolling cart drawers for each boy, I want to get rid of it all!

Some new questions about when you get to a new job assignment:

    1. Where do you park the RV? At a campground?

    2. Mail...do you get a PO box in town?

    3. Library?! And other benefits for residents? Like rec center pools?

    4. Internet access? :)

Instead of photos (my dh is very privacy-conscious also), how about illustrating aspects of traveling life as you answer questions on your blog?

1.Dad home schools us but we are pretty independent.

2.Well we have always stayed in an RV park but this time we put it in the storage and stayed in a 1 bedroom which feels like a mansion!

3.Mail is sent to P.O. box or our current location.

    4. Library is one of the first things we do when we get into town.I am a book freak and tend to go nuts without a library card :D

    5. Internet access can be a doozy in fact this is one of the factors that made my first year with online school. Now we usually just go to the library but right now we have internet in the house.

    6. Illustrating I will try but I think its going to end up like a game of charades

  6. Did your family sell your home and store the stuff you didn't want to part with .. . or do you have a home base that you return to periodically?

Do you plan your travels to see extended family, like your grandparents, periodically?

Thank you for being so enthusiastic about answering our questions. I've read blogs written by Moms who travel like this, but it's great fun to read it from your perspective. :001_smile:

    1. We sold everything and only kept photos and necessary items our home is were we are together.

2.We do visit family occasionally but do not plan extensively with them in mind.

  7. I traveled for several years with my family in a 12foot camp trailer.

When we traveled we each had a couple personal cozy items. What are yours, your families? Mine was a 24" teddy bear that doubled for my pillow for all those years. It was the only way I could have brought him along LOL.

What is the most unconventional thing you have done to make the space work for you? In our travels my brother visited from the Navy for 2 weeks. He slept on a plastic tri-fold lawn chair in the middle of the kitchen floor because that was the only place for him. LOL He is 6'3".

Does your family have any uncommon luxuries that you utilize to make it a happier place?

Have you learned to be really good at any one thing due to the limits put on your? I am really, really good at Monopoly since it was one of the only games we had. I also used to be a very good poker player when I was a young teen. Maybe I should have put that to better use. LOLLOL

    1. I really have no possessions that I would not be willing to part with except my family and pets. I do love books though and have quite a few and a sketchbook/ journal that I keep everything in.

2.Hmmm unconventional thing would have to be our couches we sleep on them and our books go under them and I set up a little shelf like corner for my cat. I also sit in the captains chair put my laptop on the wheel and use it like a desk.

    3. I have to say my best skill that my family has is our lack of need for things. We can make something out of nothing. I have also learned that money comes and goes and that its just another material possession (I am still a super saver though!)

  8. Oh, boy! Or, actually, make that girl! I'll try to limit myself!

    1. How do you travel -- as in, do you have a plan for the week, month, year? Do you decide as a family? Or is it primarily mom & dad's decision?

    2. How long have you been traveling? All your life? And a related question, have you always homeschooled?

    3. Why did your family decide to live in an RV? What sort of profession allows for this lifestyle?

    4. Have you always been in the same RV?

    5. Do you envision yourself living the same lifestyle on your own, in say 10 years?

Okay, five is enough to start. Please feel free to be as detailed as your parents are comfortable with you sharing!!

Looking forward to your new & improved blog! :D

    1. There is no plan but generally my mothers assignments last 3 months to 6 months and then we move but sometimes we might spend a month of none stop travel in between. My parents are amazing and do allow me to put my .02 cents in.

    2. I traveled from 2nd-3rd grade and now from 9th-11th. I have only homeschooled those years but wish I could have continued throughout.

    3. We live in an RV because it allows us to take a house with us and gives us freedom. My mother is a traveling nurse :)

4.No when I was traveling before we had a much smaller motor home now we have a 40 ft diesel pusher.

    5. I know that I will have to stop for college but truly do not see myself being tied down after that. In fact one of the major deciding factors in my career choice will be whether or not I am rooted to one place for to long.

My mother is fine with me sharing but for now no pictures, names or detailed locations on my blog and she is fine.

  9. I just looked again! :) I find the individual small pictures with color so much more striking -- I must be a visual person. I do like swing picture in the side bar.

However (in my obviously not-so-humble opinion) you shouldn't use just pictures of your girls when they were little! How about 1 little girl picture (with the two of them), two of those recent nature pictures, and an individual recent picture of each of them? Of course you can't make everyone happy all the time!

BTW I love your daughters paintaing I wish I had some skill when it came to paint.

  10. What are the things that you really enjoy about living and traveling in an RV and what are the things that you really dislike? Do you keep in touch with any friends that you have made while RV'ing? Do you come across many others that are doing the same thing as your family?

I love being close to my family and the relationship I have with them. Although sometimes me and my sister can go at eachothers throats we would do ANYTHING to help eachother:lol:. I have yet to go through the I hate my parents stage that ALL of my friends are going through. Usually when I am grumpy towards them its when they were right and I was wrong for the 100th time! I do keep in touch with most of my friends and the ones that I did not was usally because their idea of fun and cool was very different from mine. I have actually never come across someone my age with the same lifestyle couples with younger children can be found.

  11. How easy/difficult is it to travel with your pets? Do the cats try to run outside, or is that okay? Where do you fit a litter box in the RV? Are your dogs big or small? What do you do with them when you leave the RV for the day? Where do they sleep during the day, and is it in a different place than where they sleep at night?

These may sound like silly questions, but I noticed this in your sig line earlier. As one of my dogs continues to try to herd my unappreciative cats, it made me wonder what yours are like. I find dog logistics to be a nightmare (not to mention one was carsick recently)! :D

It is very easy to travel with pets when things are planned out. The cats do not go outside because it would not be safe with the constant moving and wildlife. I started out with 3 dogs two small 1 big. One died in a freak accident :( the other died of old age and now we have one small one. The litterbox goes under the dash in a small corner and It is cleaned every time the cats go due to personal preference. I just can not stand the small of cat stuff. When we leave for the day the dog goes in a pen due to her spastic behavior and the cats are left free to roam because we keep all areas clear and they are wiped down before and after every meal. The animals like us will sleep anywhere were they can fit. At night the boy max sleeps at my feet or wrapped around my head and the female sleeps around my fathers feet in the back.

  12. Hmm no help here but I will say this sometimes when I do things to fast like jump up or break into a run without warning it feels like a takes a bit for my heart to catch up with me. For example I was running on the treadmill at 7.0 mph and my heart rate was 105 and I could feel it then I stop running (3.5 mph) and it started climbing till it hit 198 so no help here but :grouphug:

  13. Hi everyone at the suggestion of a wonderful WTM member and the current thread on traveling the US I thought it would be nice if you guys could ask me some questions about my traveling life and I would give you some answers. Doesn't matter how crazy weird or silly you think your questions I have heard them all so just post away. This is to help me come up with topics for my blog thank you!

  14. I would close my eyes flip a coin and wherever the coin landed is where I would go. Sometimes its not the destination we remember but the Journey I always see people in these big rushes to get to A B and C and not enjoying everything around them. Yes I loved visiting Yellowstone but I will never forget driving through a blizzard to get there and having to turn on the generator to power or heaters since my dads window was freezing over with thick Ice it was so cold. :001_smile: At the time we were terrified but it makes for some good stories now

  15. Yep, please pop a link in your siggy. I'm too lazy to copy and paste the blog address most of the time (although I'm about to make a special effort just for you!) Or come and comment on my blog. I usually check out blogs of people who say hi on mine.

ETA: If you enable comments, I could post a comment about how much I liked your dusky dolphin drawing ;)

Thank You! Sorry to have lost your comment. I really do need to practice drawing you should see my fathers drawings their beautiful!

  16. I just posted on another "help me with my blog thread" -- I'm on a critique roll now!

I see a lot of blogs via Pinterest links. The ones I actually stay at and read, vs just seeing if they have instructions or a recipe generally have at least some of the following:

    Eye-catching Title Font & Picture

Less paragraph text and more white space between (I find myself skimming otherwise)

Allow comments (not that I always do)

    Pictures but not too many

Day in the life posts OR how-to

You've got a really unique situation and a lot of potential readers. I'd love to load my kids into a travel trailer or mobile home and just GO. Actually, I'd rather it be a sailboat, but until then, I'd like to read about your adventures.

Maybe you could do a WTM post giving a little background about your family and invite people to ask questions, which over the course of the next year (assuming you get a lot!), you will answer as blog posts.

But before then, I suggest adding a title picture and enabling comments. Do you leave comments on others' blogs? That really ups the volume of traffic!

Thank You so much for all of your tips I am now enabling comments on my post and will definitely look for more blogs to comment on. As far as asking WTM to ask questions I would not mind at all but I dont think the like me messing with their forum. I will also be adding day in the life post. :001_smile:

  17. Hi Hive Mind I need your help. My blog has not been doing well and I am trying to figure out what you guys look for when you visit a blog. I have added pictures and have also been trying to post plans more. At the suggestion I have also been working on grammar and spelling more and am slowly getting better emphasis on the slowly. So I was wondering what you guys look for in a blog.

    Thanks for your time!

ps. I will disappear after this post :001_smile:
