Think of LDL as "Less Desirable" & HDL as "Highly Desirable". That helped me remember which is which. Pomegranate juice is also supposed to be helpful. Jacqui
Oh, that's great! Thanks!

ARRRGH and all that! Who has the link to the "Get your pirate name" website? My kids all want new, less land-lubbery names.
Thanks - oh, and Who drank the rum?

From what I've found, if you don't have risk factors and your hdl is good, the key is for the ldl to be less than 160 which might still leave your total over 200.
Well, my ldl (is this the good one or the bad?) was 142. So maybe I am within a good range for now. I just need to get it down over-all.

I am in the same boat, I'm getting my cholesterol rechecked next week!
I read Eat to Live and the method is suppose to be drastic for lowering cholesterol.
Good Luck!
Thanks! I'll check it out.

My yearly physical is done, and the results are in...my cholesterol is slightly elevated ie, 212, when it needs to be under 200.
To be honest with you, I have never given cholesterol a thought. I have lost 50 lbs. over the last year or so, and have started exercising just this month. I know these two things will help. The dr. asked me to lose 5-10 more lbs, which I was already aiming for.
So my question for the hive is this - what dietary changes do you make to lower cholesterol? I have never paid much attention to this topic, but I would love to hear your advice. I am ready to follow - please lead me!

Here is Ree's recipe file -

You should find lots of great ideas here!

Oh. My. Goodness! I can't believe I have missed all this up until now.
Ok - now that we are living vicariously through you - (and I love my dh dearly, but who doesn't love a little romance?!)...we need to decide on details...
What are your thoughts on the meal. I am thinking Ree's lasagna and cake are great ideas, along with her buttered bread and some salad.
What will you wear? Casual - jeans and nice t-shirt. A little more dressy? - khakis and a blouse.
Music in the background? Barry White, while good, might send the wrong signal, KWIM? Classical? Jazz? Christian? Think, girl
Entertainment? Movie after dinner? a walk around the neighborhood? Coffee on the back porch?
I just wanted to give you some things to think about until the BIG DAY. Anything else you need? We are here for you, dear!

Sorry, but I am only here because I thought your title said "Can I be s*xiEST?" and I was thinking "You Go Girl!" I wasn't quite sure what you were going to share here on this family board! :D

I sprinkle on Bar Keepers Friend, and then wipe with a damp paper towel.

How fun! Was that at Disney? I can't wait!

Kelly Tew is a good friend of mine. She was on the 700 Club today, giving her testimony. Here is a link if you are interested!

I am going to agree with you here, not give you arguments against.
We gave our older two cell phones and got rid of our land line about 1 1/2 years ago, and have never looked back. I love the ease of it, and that I can almost always get in touch with them, if need be.
The only problem I have is getting them to remember to charge their phones! Good luck with your decision! :001_smile:

Well, I am officially jealous! I just started my ONE YEAR countdown. We go one year from yesterday, and I can't wait!
Please come back and give all the details!!

I am a Bible-Thumpin' Baptist :D At least, that seems to be the common classification of us! I had a friend in High-school who said, "Oh, you're one of those praying Baptists!" I didn't realize until adulthood we were considered strange!
In all seriousness though, I am a Christian. I worship a risen Savior. I believe in full-immersion baptism as a sign of identifying with Christ, but not as a means of salvation. I believe in the Bible as the literal Word of God, penned by the hands of inspired men. I believe that every story in the Bible is true, unless it was told as a parable. So, for me, yes Jonah was swallowed by a whale, Balaam was spoken to by a donkey, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo survived a firey furnace.

Oh, your poor girl! Here's hoping for a better day tomorrow! :001_smile:

Here are the ones I'm considering:
OOOHH...I love them!

I like baked beans, and he does not - which makes some meals difficult, 'cause they just scream for baked beans, KWIM?
He like green beans, and I do not, although I pretend to for the kids.
He likes grits, I don't
I like mayo on sandwiches, he would rather not eat if that is the option!

I really love my black boots, and wear them lots in the winter. I would also love brown boots, but they are not in the budget yet.
The good thing about black shoes is you can wear them with brown colors if need be. You can't really reverse that, though. Khaki pants + black shoes = ok, but black pants + brown shoes = well...just no! KWIM?

/Well...I went to prison tonight! Is that interesting? :001_huh:
Really, though, I did! I am the assistant to our church's Music Minister, and our Senior Adult choir went to the Women's Prison in our area to do a concert. I went early to help set up, and then thankfully was able to leave!
This is always an humbling experience, and one that I enjoy taking part in.

IME, foot injuries are a strange thing. There usually isn't much done for a minor injury, but they can really stink, long term. No smelly pun intended!
I've had 2 foot injuries that I've gone to the ER for. My right one involved torn tendons, crutches, an air cast and the whole shebang. The left one wasn't "bad enough" for anything but a big ER bill. The left one is the one that still kills me every time it rains or a little person or dog steps on it! (And it's the older injury!)
I don't think you're a wimp at all. I do hope you're feeling better soon!
Thank you so much!
I did google broken toes versus sprained toes and - after I picked myself up off of the floor (ugh, those pictures) - I came to the conclusion that I probably have a sprain...no sharp pains, pain while resting, no grinding noises **swoon**:svengo:
But I will take all the good thoughts and prayers I can get! :D

My oldest ds took his first steps on his first birthday! It was a momentous occasion!
My dd, on the other hand, waited until she was 15 months. And even then, didn't walk if she could avoid it! (Or talk either, for that matter!)
My youngest ds was 10(?) months or so. He had surgery to correct his eyes at 9 months, then took off!

Remember Bam-Bam and Pebbles singing "So let the sun shine in..."
One year, when my older two were 2 and 1, I dressed them like Pebbles and Bam-Bam for Halloween. So Cute!!
Loved it!

Saturday, I stubbed my little toe on a shoe left in the middle of the floor. Hurt, but I have definitely hurt my toes worse in the past.
So, all week my foot has been so sore! There is a "lump" on the inside of the toe, but I don't think it is broken. It is sort of bruised, but only I really notice the bruising.
So I feel like a total wimp! I workout with a few friends, and I haven't gone walking this week because a shoe hurts. But when they ask to see it, it doesn't really look that bad. Even as I sit here typing, my foot is aching!
So tell me - am I a wimp? I do have a low tolerance to pain, but as I said, I have hurt my toes worse before and haven't gone this long in pain.
Or is just another of that long list of "Things to look forward to as you near 40" that I keep hearing about!! :D

Was the teacher male or female?
Yeah, he was male...and also, the head of the Science Department was my Sunday School teacher..so I'm sure it was a combination of factors! :)
