  1. We had our first every day of homeschooling here today. It was great! We didn't plan too much b/c I wanted it to go smoothly. When we finished, DD wanted more =) I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!
  2. I have looked over the Y1 pages, and its the more abstract thinking problems that most concern me. I think we'll try to fly through Reception before moving on to y1. Thanks for all the advice! It seems like like of people use Miquono with MEP. I'm not familiar with Miquon, can someone tell me why they choose to use it with MEP?
  3. We live in the same area! I clicked on that link and realize that I know one set of the missionaries mentioned (the Peace's). Small world!
  4. I understand your concern, how terrible for that family! I don't need any personal or private information, only directions to public websites. My sister and her husband (and 2 young children) are missionaries in the Domincan Republic, so I understand the need for privacy and safety. They do have a public website about their mission and their family, but no personal information is on their site (ie their home address). If you don't want to post information here and would feel comfortable PMing me, that is helpful too. Thanks!
  5. Do you know any missionaries who are serving outside of the US that have young children? I'd like to learn about these families and incorporate them and their missions into our studies and prayers. Links to websites are great. EDITED: Feel free to PM me if privacy is an issue. If you are an internation missionary, I am happy to give you my email to be added to your mailing list. Thanks!
  6. DD will be 5 in August and we are starting MEP in Sept. I was planning on doing Y1, but I'm reconsidering. She does not do well with too much challenge and I don't want to discourage her. Is it possible to do only the 2nd half of Reception or do I need to do the whole year? She can count confidently to 30 and gets addition pretty easily (but not subtraction so much). Thanks for your input!
  7. Thanks for all the encouragement. I would love to keep things as simple as possible (fewers subjects) but also easy (aka boxed curriculums). I looked at tons of stuff at the convention, and I'm going to sit on it for a while and pray about it. I won't get the discounts from the convention, but I'll feel better about waiting. :001_smile:
  8. Hi all! I've been stalking this site for a while now, but since I just attended my first convention for my rising kindergartener I thought now would be a good time to introduce myself. I'm Ashley, mother of almost 5 yo and almost 2 year old. We are just gearing up for our first official year and I'm so excited and overwhelmed. No amount of warning prepared me for the convention. I went in with the idea of using Ordinary Parents Guide for reading (which we already use at home) and looking for a math curriculum. Now I'm looking at MFW as an alternative to everything. I LOVE Math on the Level. What do you think...go with Ordinary Parents Guide and MOTL or do a whole approach with MFW? I think MFW looks more fun for DD but I worry about the inflexibility to move faster or slower in certain areas. Also I like incorporating Biblical concepts into the studies with MFW. I worry I wouldn't get that enough with no curriculum to direct me. Sigh...
