I'm so excited to see this thread! I just dropped my 7th grade son at CTY summer camp at Seattle U last Sunday. This whole experience is brand new to us. I had never even heard of CTY before the middle school counselor suggested having him tested for it. I'm mostly following this thread to see what you all have to say about CTY, but also wanted to encourage those who can't afford it. We applied for financial aid and had the $4000 camp paid for.

I didn't know the Princess Bride was a book! I'm thinking the Blue Fairy Book might be intentionally campy, which can be funny, but it seems weird as a children's classic.

The Blue Fairy Book. I keep thinking I'm reading the book form of the movie Princess Bride. I haven't finished, but so far the stories are pretty stupid. I'm wondering how it's a classic. Maybe it was the best there was at the time of its writing?

My goodness, I remember when my oldest, 12, was first entering kindergarten and I had attended a few school board meetings to try to get a 1/2 day program offered. Their reply was a very strong "no", because they felt students needed a full day to get prepared for first grade. Five years later budget cuts came, and full day kindergarten was the first thing cut!

Anybody else after/summer schooling with Ambleside Online? I've got a plan more or less set in place, but I'm interested in hearing how anyone else uses this same curriculum.
