I would like to be more organized for next year.
-
Is that the case? I was under the impression that regular pap smears are excellent for early detection of often still precancerous changes - is that not so?
Paps can catch changes in very early stages, sometimes before it would even make sense to treat it (you would come in more often for follow-up). And no one has died from their Pap.

I would try Floradix. It's a liquid iron supplement that is gentle on the digestion.
(because I know the first thing they will tell me is to put her on the pill and I don't want to go that route.)Say it with me, "We're looking for other options."

Maybe I could say: "I will have to call the police on your children, EVERY SINGLE TIME I see them in my yard. I can't have the liability for them if they get injured on the brick wall or fall into the fish pond." I'm sure the parents won't like it, but at least they will have been warned.
Yikes. I would just tell the kids they can't play in the yard when I'm not out there.

We tried Saxon for part of 1st and 3rd grades and it was like enduring a long, slow toothache :glare: . When we tried again for Saxon 5/4, it was a whole different ball game. We used Singapore for first through third grades.
I felt exactly the same way! My two oldest are working on 54 and 87 now.

I would highly recommend having her read Taking Charge of Your Fertiliy (or at least parts of it) and learn to chart her cycle. Or she could try a site like www.fertilityfriend.com
-
Could she volunteer during the school year, when there is more of a need?
-
No retirement savings here (yet). We're currently what one would call "the working poor."
-
oops. repeat.
-
No taking home crayons from restaurants?
-
But is that bc of our educational system? Maybe if they didn't spend so much time doing so many other things, they'd have the time to find their interests.
Good point!

Hit:
Saxon Math 3 for dd. She switched to it from CLE Math and has done great.

We're on SOTW 3 this year with a K'er, 1st, 4th and 6th grader.
The only extra time we've spent on American history so far was when we got to the part about the Revolutionary War, we spent two weeks reading the A History of US book about that time period and watching the Liberty's Kids DVDs. Then we went back to SOTW.

"I would hope that you could find a midwife that would be willing to work with you and flexible enough to let things kind of stay up in the air that way without charging you for the entire package."
I don't think that's fair to the midwife. With an out of hospital practice, we only take on a certain number of clients per month. You're talking about asking someone to leave their schedule and their income up in the air until you decide what you want to do. If you want the homebirth midwife to be on call for your birth, she should be paid accordingly.

"Before the session, he persuaded all 28 state colleges to come up with four-year bachelor's programs costing $10,000 or less in tuition, emphasizing skills sought by employers."
Will be tuition be total or per year?

My 12 year old ds is most of the way through Saxon 8/7 and will be doing Key to Algebra next (at his request).
What is a good next step after Key to Algebra?

Ooh! I want to second the recommendation to look for a doula. You can probably find one near you at www.doulamatch.net

Wow, is Mrs Dugger your client? That's one full jar!
That was from one placenta :)
-
"My OB will do a C-section if he is over the 90th percentile growth wise."
Then maybe it's time for a new OB.

Homeschooling doesn't take us all day, so no, we don't take off for snow/sun days. Even if we decide to spend the morning at the park when it's nice out, we can still work in the afternoon.
-
Yes. I have and I would again.
-
I am a fan of placentas. I encapsulate them for clients. That said, it's weird to have a placenta in a public kitchen like that.
When I'm done with your placenta, it looks like this:

I'm seriously asking a question, not being snarky. In NY, can you buy soda with food stamps?
ETA: Don't most fruit juices contain the same amount of sugar as a soda? Serious question. I don't have any juice in the house to check.

There is lots of sugar in drinks that aren't water or unsweetened tea/coffee.

I am planning to use this with my oldest when we get back to ancients. He'll be in 8th grade at that point.
