  1. This is Kody. He is an 11 month old, 4.5lb Miniature Pincher/Toy Poodle mix. His mother and father were both owned by my SIL. We clip all of his fur except on his head, otherwise all of his fur would be the same as on his head. He's the best, smartest dog ever....but I'm biased! LOL

Oh my goodness, what a cutie!

  2.

Ok, now I KNOW my dog has chihuahua in her. Her ears go back in that exact same way and she has the same guilty look. It's fun trying to figure out all her breeds. :D

I love chihuahuas! They have the most peculiar personalities!

  3. Here are some of Gilbert. Oh, here is Gilbert the daredevil.

Here is one of Prissy. She and Gilbert are littermates.

Here is one of Baxter. Here is one of Baxter in trouble.

Sorry they are all on the blog. I have started deleting photos off my computer after a year. I figure they are on the internet forever. I can get them there if I need them again.

Guilty pet pictures are the best! lol

  4. Your animals are so cute!

Here's our fat chihuahua. She'll be 8 this year. These pictures are older when she was skinner at about 6 lbs, now she's over 9. EEKS!

    After a much dreaded bath

She always gets this look when we take a picture of her...she assumes guilt immediately. lol

  5. I've gotten the vaccine (as has my family) every year since I've been able to. I haven't had the flu since I was a child. Neither my kids nor my dh has contracted the flu in any years where they've been vaccinated. The one year that they weren't....they got the flu. It was an early outbreak year, and I hadn't had the opportunity to get them vaxed before it hit.

Glad you've all been so well! That's wonderful. :)

  6. I was vaccinated, and so far have not gotten the flu (knock on wood).

My understanding is that if you get the vaccine, you will be 60% less likely to get the disease (when they have the correct strain in the vaccine), but if you do get sick, it should be more mild.

The bigger issue, disease-wise, is that only 37% of the population actually gets the vaccine, which is not enough to reduce transmission rates.

That's interesting! I was wondering how many of the population actually get it. I would have thought more than 37% though!

  7. We did not get the shot this year and every single one of us got the flu (Influenza A if that matters). We have never had the flu as a family ... must be very very contagious! I think I've only had the flu one other time in my life ... never felt so sick ever.

We didn't get ours confirmed, but I also don't remember my family ever being so sick, especially at the same time! We all had come down it within 7 days of the first person.

  8. In a timely announcement, our news just said the shot is at 62% effectiveness right now. I'm not sure if that's overall, or just for our area (local news). It seems pretty low, but it's still something. I'm not sure how they got that number. I'm just repeating what was reported.

I'd heard that! I told my husband after the sickness we went through I'm tempted to get it, but my husband's feeling confident in still not getting it.

  9. We had the exact same symptoms. We never went to the doctor for it.

I was the only one who escaped without the terrible aches, fever, & vomiting.

I have been taking 5000 IU Vitamin D3 a day & drinking elderberry syrup 3 times a day.

My husband got it first and is on day 9. He is still struggling with congestion & fatigue & aches.

My 2 year-old is on day 8 and still has a runny nose, cough, & grumpiness.

My 6 year-old is on day 5 and has a terrible barky cough.

My 8 and 9 year-olds are on day 3 and just over their fevers. Their coughs aren't too bad.

    I have the kids taking a probiotic, 1000-2000 D3 a day, & vitamin C.

  10. We don't do the vaccine, but we got the flu this past week. It was bad, but we are getting through it. I was the only one who wasn't laid up in bed in pain & vomiting.

Days 1-3 were fever, chills, terrible aches & pains, nausea & vomiting, terrible sore throat

Days 4-6 were getting an appetite back, fighting a terrible cough, runny nose, various aches

My husband & son are on days 8 and 9 of it and still not feeling normal. My 2 year-old is still fighting a runny nose & the grumpies. My girls are on day 5 & 3 of it. We are just laying low, staying home until the coughs & runny noses heal up.

  11. Thank you for the reply. :)

Since he's been awake a couple hours now, the whoop has gone away when he coughs. He kind of did that a month ago when he was sick with something respiratory too. I'm thinking it may just be how he coughs? I was up for hours last night holding him though and riddled with worry!

He's just got a clear runny nose, cough, but he's feeling so much better today! He ate breakfast and is playing in the tub.

  12. Update! Well, Praise the Lord! I slept in his room last night to keep an eye on him and he only coughed a couple times early in the night and has hardly coughed since, the sound is gone too! I think he was just so gunked up it was hard for him to get enough breath at that moment.

We've got the infulenza/flu going through the house.

DS (2 1/2) came down with it last Friday. Fever 103, cough, vomited, lots of moans & groans. His fever went away Sunday. Yesterday it came back about 100. He's got a lot of clear mucous in his nose, draining, gagging him. His cough sounds like the samples of "whooping cough" I've listened to.

Should I call the dr and take him in or do you think it's just part of this virus?

  13. Kitchen Aid - I had a counter-top mixer that broke after a couple uses and they sent me a new one, no questions asked, and picked up the old one!

Lowes - Has a great price matching policy. We ended up getting our dishwasher there because not only was it already cheaper than the same model at Sears, but they took an extra 10% off. :)

Bigby Coffee - Always the greatest service!

I could go on. I've had WAY more positive experiences than negative.

  14. Do they just need some practice with it? Do you need to model it and walk through it with them when paper's not available? (For example, yesterday my six-year-old asked me how many days till Christmas while we were shopping at Target. I helped her figure it out while were walking through the toy aisle. There was definitely no paper there.)

Sometimes I think that we need to remember that we've had YEARS to practice and manipulate these numbers in these ways and these things are new for these little ones.

    Just a thought...

Thank you for the reply and especially reminding me of the bolded. :)
