  1. I usually order a "clean" fresh turkey from a local specialty meat market. However, last year it just wasn't up to par. I've been doing research on all "kinds" of turkeys and I stumbled across the Heritage Turkey. Has anyone ever spent the money on one? Was it worth it? Thanks! ~Holly
  2. I have been searching and searching on Ravelry to see if I can find a similar pattern for the shawl seen in this picture: http://merlininfo.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/gaius-and-alice.jpg Can any knitters out there help me find a pattern or figure it out? Thanks so much! ~Holly
  3. I have posted here a few times to find penpals for my daughters. My son does have two penpals, but one writes seldomly. His sisters each have a number of penpals they write and it's hard for him to see them getting letters each week and he gets one every 2-3 months. Does anyone have a son (13yo or 14yo) who would be interested in writing at least once per month? We are a Christian family, PCA / Reformed in our beliefs, and would like to find a penpal from a conservative Christian family. My son loves Legos, Harry Potter, playing the Wii, plays chess, loves Monopoly, playing outside with his sisters and friends, and has a calm / gentle spirit. He is not into anything concerning "pop culture" or fads. He is a good student and writes very well. He would be a faithful penpal. If you think your son would be a good match, please contact me. Oh, he is hoping for someone who lives out-of-state (we live in FL) because it's more fun to get a letter from another state or country! :001_smile: Thanks! ~Holly
  4. Please tell me the pros and cons. I have a friend who can't afford a Nutrimill and frankly wants something non-electric anyway. Thanks! ~Holly
  5. Thanks. I guess I didn't read carefully. I go look back at the teacher's notes. Smiles! ~Holly
  6. I was working on lesson number 37 with one of my children today and it includes proofreading marks. As I was looking over the answer key, I noticed it uses three lines under words that need to be capitalized, but it does not mention using that "symbol" in the lesson. Grrr. I have always used the "3 lines" when teaching my children...but, when the book said to use "cap" in a circle...I just figured it must be a new way to do it. I know I'm rambling...but, does anyone know why FLL teaches the proofreading marks one way and then has something completely different in the answer key? Also, is there a "standard" list somewhere for proofreading marks? Thanks! ~Holly
  7. My DD is doing a graphing assigment for her math lesson. From the choices she has given...she would like to know "Which animal(s) would you want to own?" You have the option of choosing more than one. Please do not tell me your child doesn't want to own any of the animals. :001_smile: If that's the case, just don't participate. Thanks! The poll will close in two days. Thanks for the help! ~Holly
  8. Yes, I'm talking about the "adhesive" type machines. Thanks! ~Holly
  9. Does anyone have a Xyron Sticker Maker? Would you share any pros or cons? My purpose for getting one would be solely for sticker-making-fun for my girls. Thanks! ~Holly
  10. I have been buying grass fed beef for about five years from a farm in Tennessee. I split a whole cow with a friend of mine and it lasts us a year. The way our "buying schedule" worked out for the both of us has us buying our beef from the December delivery. My question...is there a "better seasonal time" to buy grass fed beef during the year? In other words...does a "spring cow" yield better meat or is there no difference. My reason for asking is I heard a comment one time saying that calves that have fed on the spring grasses are a "better quality" meat. ?? Thanks! ~Holly
  11. He can count her in for an orange vote. He wasn't sure how many flavors he should include in the poll. Thanks! ~Holly
