  1. It seems AP has few dissenters! so I think this is what I will do with my 8 year old in the fall :) He does love to draw and paint and really creates beautiful things. Me? I can barely draw a stick figure! that's why I need something well laid out for the artistically challenged :D
  2. wondering if any of you have used it and what your thoughts are. One of my ds (will be 3rd grade in the fall) really wants to do an art program! And let's just say I am incredibly art-challenged !! thanks!
  3. Tapestry of Grace Year 2 Redesigned (for history, lit, church history)--as assigned weekly First Language Lessons (grammar)--daily Spelling Workout--one lesson every other week (we're in the 3rd grade book) Math U See (Beta)--daily Pathways 2nd grade readers/workbooks (I only do 1 workbook page for each chapter....and I alternate reading with spelling weeks) Winter Promise Science ( "The World Around Me")--1-2 days/week Building Thinking Skills...loosely For devotions we love "Wisdom and the Millers". Hope that helps!
  4. first, all the great books. I've always been a voracious reader and I want that for my boys as well. Currently my 2nd grader is reluctant to read on his own, and I hear so many reviews about SL giving kids a love for reading. (He LOVES read-alouds at a couple grade levels above him). My 9th grader likes school reading, but won't read for leisure. Also, I am wondering if TOG is giving my Rhetoric level boys enough of the classics...the SL book list for British Lit, for example, seems more extensive than what TOG is covering (although of course TOG doesn't break down lit courses). Further, the TOG Rhetoric lit component in the Redesigned format has been really difficult for my current 12th grader. Granted, he is a reluctant student, committed fiercely to the minimum :(, but I myself have had a tough time wading through the notes each w/end and staying on top of all the terms and the lengthy assignments and discussions. Perhaps with my next Rhetoric boy, who is a more serious student, this will remedy itself? That said, otherwise I have been loving TOG. I enjoy the tone of it, the teachers' notes, the constant reminder of the thread of redemption that runs through history. That has, for me, been the biggest nugget I've taken out of this past three years of homeschooling!! I've considered remaining with TOG and adding in SL readers/read alouds...have also considered doing SL with my Kindergartener and TOG with my then-3rd and 10-graders, so that I have a year to basically do both and evaluate. I don't **feel**like this would be too much...I'd already of course planning the extra school time for the Kinder boy anyway :001_smile: So...there's my situation. Suggestions? Thank you!!
  5. Looking for comparisons and/or opinions between the two..I am a current TOG user and very pleased with most of the curriculum, but am being drawn to SL for various reasons. Having a tough time making the decisions for next year. In the fall, I will have a Kinder, a 3rd grader, and a 10th grader, all boys  Thanks in advance!
