  1. Trying another bump. Just would love to find this as a whole series and save money.
  2. I am looking to buy the whole series or a lot of anyway of the Tale of Series by Arthur Scott Bailey. ex Tale of Granfather Mole, and many many more titles. I would love the hardcover additions. They are on Amazon and chapters but they want $25 for each titles and then have to find all the titles. Does somewhere carry the series, even if it is paperback, to make one easy purchase. Then there is the series of Amoung the Pond people, Amoung the Forest People, ect. many in this set too. Just looking for a bulk savings. Would love hardback if possible. These are great books that were written with great English way back when things were not dumbed down. And they learn sciene at the same time. I know you can get them on the kindle, but would love them for my shelf. One of my children prefers the book to the kindle. And I want to encourage him to ready. Thanks mama of 10 beautiful children.
  3. Bumping up, since I need to call them today. They sent my Deluxe set and were suppose to send an extra student pack and instead sent a spelling student pack. Not sure why they would do that. lol But seeing if when I phone them, it is worth getting the extra pack, or just leave it and get a credit. :O) Thanks
  4. Yes, it is all you need. There is a lot of work in it. But he is such a good teacher that even though it is intensive in what you cover, you learn it.
  5. Just bumping to see if my siggy shows up that I just entered. :O)
  6. When did you little one turn 3? My little one will be 3 in the beginning of June. Hey neat, my name is Shannon too. I do not see many Shannon's anymore. :O)
  7. And if so are they getting it? My 2.5 year old does know a lot of his sounds and does reconize the letters because of watching Leap Frog ABC's DVD. Love that video, it has helped our children so much and we are not TV people. :O)
  8. We are using it for a phonics program with our 6 and 7 year old. They love it. I guess because it also focuses on spelling it can slow them down more than if they were using it just as reading, but I am finding we are still moving fast enough. And if you did not focus on the spelling part of it at all but just the rules and such you could move faster through it. I am not worried about it though. It is working wonderfully. They do have a reading program coming out following right along with each level of spelling. In the long run you may not need both. Though because I am just going to have to see it I will probably order it. Though it will be for the next children underneath as our 6 and 7 year old will progress faster through the AAS than the AAR is going to be coming out. :O)
  9. Just wanted to bump this up and get more responses, since I know there are a lot of AAS users on here. :) Also was wondering if there are any of you that NEVER use the CD ROM and it still works great? Also does she direct you when, to use the CD ROM and also what spot to go too? Thanks
  10. I just phoned as well, and was able to cancel the multiplication/division cards. So that is good. Of course I made sure that they knew I did still want the addition/subtraction ones. She was surprised that the muliti/divis ones were not coded as well. It really is to bad they were not.
  11. Yes, I too just ordered them. I had another mom said they were esential, she started with her own as well since she had them, but then bought the ones that go with because they are tabbed or numbers and so very easy to put along with the lessons. :O) So yes, get the addition/subtraction ones. I wish the multiplication ones where too, I just assumed they were as I just placed an order for level 400 math too. So I bought them. If I had know i would have just left them as I have very good one here.
  12. Oh and one more thing, in talking to the aas rep., he mentioned that level 7 will be the roots, Latin and Greek, now that has me excited because I could drop vocabulary vine, since the kids do not really enjoy it anyhow. I think roots will help with spelling and reading but just can't seem to get into it with the 2 programs I have tried. So level 7 should be fun.
  13. I was also going to ask, that in doing this course you all feel your children's spelling and ALSO reading improved drastically, like leaps and bounds because of it. And you see it in their writing and that they are retaining it? It is going to be a hard 2 weeks waiting for it. My 7dd and 6ds are so excited and I told them they will be reading very good by summer because they should be through the first 2 levels. And the oldest 4 are even a bit exciting. And the youngest 3, well they will just keep making the tornado happen in the house as they color pages, cut them in a million pieces. Okay so the youngest does not use scissors but she is good at spreading the pieces everywhere and making sure she tries to pick up a pencil or two from the floor and walk around with a big grin on her face and make mommy cringe as I ask for them back.
  14. Wow, I am loving to hear this, seems like a lot of progress and really small amounts of time each day. Really encouraging. I did order the first 3 levels. SO that is good. Almost ordered the 4th but the bill got to big. And then it will be summer, so thought I would order it when I order their reading program that should be out by then. Keep it coming, I want to hear more stories. So you all do 5 days a week then?
  15. It was my favorite too, and I use to type in all my copwork for the younger kids from the book I read to them. But they changed the free set up. You use to be able to very quickly pick the grade and write it in and then print it in color or just all black and white if you wante and then switch to the next size of font for the next child. Now you have to reopen every time and I do not think you can pick just black and white and printed to is a bit more. Also it now print the sheet out sideways instead of up and down like it use too. I like it to be like a traditional sheet of writing paper. Anyone else know what I am talking about? Is it still the best free resource for making your own copywork. I liked that it was a full page no wasted pace at the top of the page for names and dates and such, I do not need those.
  16. Okay I know this is all a rough line and you need to work at your child's speed but just want to roughly know. So for your beginner that are just starting out reading with the program(the know the sounds for the 26 letter and th, ch, and sh but nothing more, can read CVC of some. But really they are just beginning) How long did it take them to go through: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Hopefully someone here has some children that just started with it and has worked all the way to Level 3. No for your middle children ages 9 to 14. I am starting them at the beginning, all these guys are reading. And reading well to very very well. Long chapter books. Though the two middle kids are the ones that need spelling practice, spelling not so hot, but still is there) How long to work through : Level 1, level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 Thanks all for leading me to this program, I put in a very large order. :tongue_smilie: Again all roughly. I know I have read through posts that said just a couple weeks for some. So if you can put the age of you child and how long for each level and if they were beginning readers when they first started or like my olders, reading just needed the boost for spelling and really helped with some of the bigger words in reading the actual word. thanks so very much.
  17. My middle son, we are just trying to figure out if we should do the switch and make the order today for CLE Math from Saxon. He is wishing there were more Metal Math not just questions. He does not think the mental math in it, is real. I am not totally sure what he is trying to get across. So does CLE have more real life questions in it than Saxon? Thanks
  18. Okay hubby wanted me to ask, In looking at the 1st lesson he is thinking can't they just have a solid foundation in learning to read from this program alone. I know she is putting out a reading program but it could be a bit yet. Could you use just this to get little ones reading? Thanks
  19. Also how long does each level take, I am looking at some posts and maybe they take less than 1 year each?
  20. hmm, where to start, well when i saw this mentioned lots I thought I would take a quick look and saw a sample of the one lesson, thinking this would be good to supplement along with Lrn to Rd, CLE. I really do not want it for spelling as much as all the rules that help to understand with reading and reconizing the words. Which yes would help with spelling of the "not making sense" words according to everyday sound phonics. I thought I was just one book with the rules and how to introduce, not many levels for many years. I kind of take an approach to school -- get them reading solidly then set them free on good quality books with great grammer and such and they learn much from there as they see it over and over. Then I had them doing Simply CM spelling work books which is studying a phrase (which gives them a good thought or moral) and then when ready dictate it to them and they spell it. The boys are enjoying this kind of spelling and it really has helped them. So really was hoping the aas was more of the phonics approach to help with reading and the special rules that help you know what sound those letters make at the time, or when to use a certain letter because of the word set up. And hoping it was one book that also aloud playing with the tiles. From what I am seeing, it is very teacher intensive and all the neat rules are scattered throughout all the levels. So spreading over many years. I am not sure what rules all do get covered in LRN-CLE, but it is those extras that make light bulbls go on in the head that I wanted. I know I have heard a few, that I had wished I knew when I was young. My idea was when the children read after going through their phonics program, if I see they have a particular problem with a certain group of words then I would go to the little rule jingle and we would go through that together cementing it, which would be even good for the older children who just get hung up on a couple combinations. I wanted to be able to give them something more than just saying, "You spell it that way because that is just how it is.":tongue_smilie: How long do you spend each day on it. And it has to be per child? Sorry so long, need to wrap my head around it before I spend money for something that will be to intensive and time for me. :bigear: Thanks Mom to 9 children and #10 in Aug. So looking to streamline. Thought I found my dream supplement to LTR-CLE but maybe it is to much. I want the need little rules.
  21. I do not have the program, looking at it and have some questions, but still wanted to answer, I would use a paper trimmer, like one you would use for scrapbooking. :O) Nice, smooth, straight, fast lines.
  22. THe lady on the CLE website said no, but hubby thought he saw their material at our conference. And I know I bought their preschool pack once years ago at one. But never looked for CLE before, it would be so nice. If anyone carries their stuff, please let me know.
  23. Okay so we are going to CLE for Grade 1,2 and 3. Then I have my 9 year old in Saxon 5/4 and Brynn 11 year old in Saxon 6/7 then they go onto the first Chalkdust. My oldest children love the Chalkdust. But looking at the 2 Saxon's we use I am wondering if anyone found the middle CLE Math more to thier liking. Easier to understand, yet still more advanced. Did you change from Saxon 5/6 or 6/7 to CLE and Love it and which levels did you go into? Also if I did go to CLE for middle grade -- could I use the light unit like I would the Saxon Math, they write their questions in their notebook, therefore not consumming the workbooks? Also Are all the problems fully worked out like Saxon does? OR did you go from CLE middle Maths in Saxon 5/6 or 6/7 and find it way better??? ANd from what level of CLE did you change? Which one did the light bulbs go on for your children? PRos or CONS to either - please. Just seeing if I would be better to streamline yet more.
