  1. I second the All About Spelling recommendation. On their website, they have a section that addresses the questions specifically for SWR users, although it is down right now as they are updating their website. When it was up, I remember many SWR users thinking AAS was a very similar prgram and a little easier to use. I too think AAS would be a good tool for reinforcing the phonics and reading skills.:)

  2. I have been using just this year All About Spelling with my twin 2nd graders and first grader. I had not done spelling with them until this year. It is a wonderful program that I think has a lot of variety and definantly has a lot of built in review. The student builds words with letter tiles and then writes them on paper (which can be done on different days). You can spend as much time on each lesson as your child needs before moving on to the next one. There are games you can download from the website that reinforce the lessons. I haven't done that yet but I know my kids would love it! They like the flash card reviews a lot as it builds confidence and they are reminded about all they know.

I hope this helps! Blessings! :)

  3. First time posting, but I had to share my experience. My twin sons are 8 (2nd graders) and we have been using MUS since K. I have noticed that one ds is more dependent on the manipulatives and takes a little longer to learn new concepts. My other ds stopped using the manipulatives sooner than his brother and I didn't force him to use them if he was understanding the material. I think the videos (which we watch together) are so wonderful and the way MUS is written the concepts are easily grasped. I cannot compare other math programs since I've only used MUS. I like how MUS has only 30 lessons, so if we need to spend longer than a week to make sure math facts are solid then we can. I have heard from another mother of twins that she did use different programs because of the competition factor. But both of mine using MUS has worked for us! I hope this helps you make your decision.:)

    Blessings,

    Michelle
