  1. Hello, I am not a christian but belong to a distinct religion :SIKH.This religion has its roots in India. Since we are in minority, so not known much, but if you would have ever seen men/women with turbans on their head, we are one of them, and often targeted with hate-crime since people link us with Bin Laden..anyways..

    People of all religions/races/colors are welcome in our worshipping plac e:GURUDWARA { which means: place of GOD}

    Yes, the only norm you may have to follow while visiting our worshipping place, is to take off your shoes before entering and cover your head with a scarf etc. We hold free community kitchen every sunday afternoons, people of all denominations are allowed to eat food there {for free}.

    Basic principles of our religion are : ALL men are equal, women should be treated equally, human life is for connecting to GOD, We keep unshorn hair, to show respect for GOD's perfect creation.

    SOmeone ( american historian) quoted," We have one Jesus who was martyered, and have christians in billions, you people have thousands of such martyers in your religion still you are in minority?"

    You can google more for:sikh or sikhism, its the most modern religion yet least known.

    If you ever decide to visist any Gurudarwa (sikh temple) near you , you will always be given a warm welcome.

  2. Hello All,

    My son loves to read , but nothing besides Diary of a Wimpy kid, to which he was exposed at school library.

    I am worried, if he doesnt read any history/literature/mystery books, he will miss many things!

    I read Diary of a Wimpy kid, and nothing but talks rubbish..

    Do you think the same??

    How can I persuade him to read other Chapter /history books...:confused:

  3. Hello All,

    I am new to this forum, and found parents talking about Singapore math as a success. My kids (2nd grader and 1st grader) goes to top tanking PS in CA, and they Everyday MAth , and I kind of dont feel satisfied with that.

    I want to give them more challenge, and thought SIngapore math would work since most parents talk +ve about it. BUt not sure which books my kids need. I gave then placement tests, both passed scoring 90% on ist and 2nd grade tests.

    Please mention the name of books I should order (or any links), since I looked on AMazon, and parents gave comments that they were not REAL singapore math books..so just confused!
