  1. We use the Words Aptly Spoken and discuss the books. Sometimes we write about them, sometimes not. I prefer IEW writing. We do use the Henle Latin for olders and First Form Latin for the youngers. We obviously can't do the debate, but we look for other opportunities to do that. I use a different math program than they do.

I'll try to think of some other things tomorrow. M brain is pretty fried right now.

  2. I feel horrible for the people who are more north. Here in the south, we're used to the heat and have AC. I remember when we lived in NY and MI, our houses didn't have AC because it was rarely needed. We're going on our 30th day of over 100 since the first of June. Many friends' animals are dying. I'm ready for some cooler weather and the (NOT) funny part is we're just now heading into what's usually the hottest part of the summer!

  3. Note the date and watch for signs of illness in 10-14 days - slight fever, over sleepy. It may be hard to tell in such a little baby. The spot will probably be red for a while. When my 4yo ds had a tick borne illness last month, he complained of headache and was very fatigued. I also noticed the lymph nodes near the bite were pretty swollen. It responded well to antibiotics and now he's fine. Hope it's nothing. Most of them are.

  4. When I was pg with #5, I started having weird morning sickness at about 10 wks. I would be fine in the morning until I ate. Then I was in the bathroom with loose stools and throwing up. It got so bad I couldn't eat without running to the bathroom every time. My family dr wouldn't touch me because I was pg. My OB called a surgeon. I tried a drug for it and it helped for a few weeks, but by 18 weeks I was just as bad. I had surgery when I was 20 wks pg. That was as late as they could do it without great risk to the baby. I was so worried about the surgery, but then again I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep any food down the rest of the pg.

I haven't really had any problems since. I eat pretty much whatever I want. I do take digestive enzymes that I think really help.

  5. I used to feel exactly like that till I got my thyroid checked! My family dr wouldn't treat me because my numbers weren't low "enough". Whatever. I guess you have to feel REALLY bad before you can get some help. Anyway, I called a compounding pharmacy and got the name of a dr (nurse practitioner, really) that treats bioidentical hormones. I was definitely hypo and my adrenal's were shot. I've been on armour thyroid and adrenal meds now for about 2 years. I wouldn't trade them for anything! BTW, thyroid problems are one of the leading causes of heart problems in women.

{{hugs}} I hope you start feeling better soon.

  6. Hi there! I'm an Oklahoma homeschooling momma to 7, ages 1 to 16. Diapers to driving! lol!! Nice to see there's lots of okie moms here. We just moved to out dream house (read major fixer-upper) in the country complete with chickens and puppies, not to mention the fleas, ticks, scorpions and poison ivy. We're about 15 mins east of OKC.
