I plan to use writing aids from TOG and IEW next year. My plan is to use IEW as my base program and schedule a few assignments each term from WA. We'll see how that goes. HTH

Laura,
how old were your boys when you started them running for 30 minutes a day?

I usually bind my books using a hot glue gun and a pancake griddle... I know it sounds crazy but you can pm me if you want more info.

Thanks for asking this because I came on the board today to look for the very same thing but did not know how to word the post !

I diito Lisa! While we only have 5 so far, I agree with her. Since I started schooling that way I am regaining my sanity.:)

Thank you for the heads up.

I had both and I have to say I like IEW better. I cannot put my finger on it, but my children thrived better on IEW.

I'd like to know also...

Thanks for sharing. This looks pretty neat

I didn't have much luck with them. I think it had more to do with trying to make them all myself. If you participate in a swap it might go much better.

My fourth Grader (9yodd) just reads through the elementary Apologia series and at the end of the chapter does the "what do you remember" questions. She will do an experiment if she chooses to and it is really very easy.

I'm not sure if I'll wait until high School. However for now we are holding off. We have done Lively Latin and Latin for Children and fallen off. I want to spend next year focusing on ensuring the basics are solid.

I have also found their customer service to be wonderful. I had tons of questions and they were very helpful. I love R&S.

Thanks for posting this. I was seriously considering LoF after Saxon. I like the statement someone made about the maturity of the child. Lots to consider here.....

If Colorful is what you are looking for, then I would suggest A Beka. My 9yo DD loves it and is far more interested in it in comparison to Saxon.

I have a 11 yo DS and I was having the same problem. What I have started doing now is to have him explain to me each problem he has gotten wrong. I ask a lot of why questions so that he can explain more than just the steps. That has helped his retention greatly. I am a true curriculum junkie so I would add in new curriculums to try and fix this issue. However, in the end I just went back to my original program and just forced him to explin the whys more so than the hows. HTH

Have you thought of using the Apologia elementary series having them read them on their own. At the end of the unit, you could have them do the experiments together. I use this program with my 11yo ds and 9yo dd.
Just a thought.

I got a flyer in the mail today and it said the sale lasts until April 15th. If I remember correctly after that the discount is 5%.
I too am making my list and checking it twice. I hate to place orders only later to find I forgot something!

We used Lively Latin for one year and it just did not click with us. We really like latin for children. I found it to be far more organized and it seemed to progress logically to me. Lively latin felt like it was all over the place.
I know I am most likely in the minority here but thats just my experience. HTH :D
Fun chemistry curriculum???
