That's not how it works in the US.  SS- is not a welfare plan (that is affected by outside income.)

SS is based on how much a person paid into it during their working life.  It's not something given to every person (only people who worked and paid into it), so the amounts vary.
Dh gets SS, and he still has the same business he's had for twenty years with an income that goes up every year.  Hasn't affected his SS benefits.

I am not sure what is going on with your hubby, perhaps his money is not considered income but return on investment or the money goes back into the business and he takes a certain amount as income. But for most people once you start collecting ss you are only allowed to earn a certain amount of income on top of your ss before they start deducting from your ss income. For instance my hubby is allowed to earn $22,000 per year before they start deducting some of his ss income. This actually happened to my MIL one year which caused all kinds of problems for her. I have also heard of this happening to other people as well.

I *really* liked the stand alone episodes. I didn't like all the conspiracy / end-of-the-world stuff.

Good thing salt is so cheap. And where did they get the big bags of it? I can still picture them slicing into the bags with a knife and pouring it along the windowsills.... 🙂 Good times.

  3. I lost 40 lbs using semaglutide but then developed a side effect that caused me to go off of it. I have gained back 10 lbs so far. I am thinking about trying it every other week instead to see if that works but if not I guess I am just going to give up and accept that I have reached the matronly grandmother stage. Because of my health I am unable to really exercise. I can barely walk for any amount of time and I have yet to find a diet that works for me even short term.

  4. CVS is just a difficult pharmacy. We started using them because they were our preferred pharmacy at one time and I have had many problems with them which have gotten progressively worse over the years. When we first started using them I could het my prescriptions here and in GA when visiting my dd. Then there were years of one person telling me one thing and then another telling me something different or them not knowing the rules or laws in our state or them just saying no without any explanation at all. Now that I have been with them for 15 years and they know me and all my prescriptions and who my doctors are it goes pretty smoothly. I have a few controlled prescriptions and to try and transfer those to a new pharmacy at this point would just be too difficult. Walgreens seems to be the easiest place to get prescriptions filled without a lot of run around.

I think I'd want it checked, myself, but my sister had a similar thing that was eventually found to be, get this,  Too Much Caffeine. 🤨 Apparently it can cause shooting breast pain.

Now that you mention this, I recall that my two dds with issues are supposed to watch their caffeine consumption. That's probably not my problem though as I only have coffee about once a month and don't really consume many other sources of caffeine.

  6. Over the past few days. I don't feel any lumps or bumps but there is a spot that is sore to the touch. I have never had this before. No family history of bre@st cancer but two of my dd have fibrocystic bre@st. Could it happen this late in life? I am 8 years past menopause so shouldn't be any hormonal issues. Is this something I need to worry about and if so how much? Like mention it at my next doctor's appt at the end of June, try to get in sooner or just wait and see?

  7. We hit Aldi's first because it is always cheaper. We used to go to Walmart second because they are also pretty cheap but we have found that they frequently don't have what we are looking for. So now we get whatever we couldn't find at Aldi's at Kroger's. We have a shopping card with them and my hubby always shops at on their sales day plus we get double fuel points which really helps. The other day he filled up the van for $5.29, $.29 per gallon. We also frequently buy their 10 for $10 items.

We only eat one meal a day, usually a protein, two double size servings of vegetables and a double size serving of fruit. For snacks we eat nuts, seeds, popcorn. If we ever do get hungry earlier in the day we might have eggs or oatmeal or maybe some yogurt. We occasionally will have chips or crackers with avocado or hummus but that is about it. We rarely eat most other carbs so practically no bread, pasta, potatoes or sweets. So the stuff we do eat costs a little more but we don't eat very much. We could eat a little cheaper but it would not be as healthy for us as we have found that when we eat like that we gain weight and have other health issues.

  8. So I had this in the library. My two older dds were over yesterday and my oldest who built it wanted to show it to her younger sister so we all went into the library and it was gone. No one knew where it went because it was there just that morning. Eventually they had to leave so my hubby and I tore the house apart looking for it and found it in my middle dd's bedroom. Apparently she saw it was empty and thought it would be great to store her books and her game box on. I told her that was fine but when I get ready to rearrange my bookshelves I needed it back. Maybe my older dd needs to go into business.

    Agree.
Growth without the necessary infrastructure is a bad thing. Nashville is suffering for this now.

As is the entire Nashville Metropolitan area. They keep building houses and I keep wondering who is going to live there and where they are going to work and how the roads are going to handle it.

  10. I am a natural consequences kind of parent too. If she doesn't work she doesn't have money. Let her know that if she encounters problems due to not working then obviously she needs to get a job. She can't just lay around the house working herself into a tizzy and causing stress to the rest of the family. I would speak to the sister and ask her to stop reinforcing the negative ideas.

  11. Ok we still haven't figured out the guilty party but it would have had to be strong because the entire coop was lined with paving brinks and whatever it was moved a brick and then dug under the fence and then somehow dragged the chicks out. They were about 6 weeks old.

Anyhow my SIL dug down about a foot and then secured the fencing and then filled both sides to ground level and put larger rocks all around the fence. The entire coop is enclosed and the door is kept looked. They bought a couple more and are thinking about getting a camera to watch the coop.

  12. For the most part I gave up wearing make up when I quit working, so roughly 25 years ago. I only wear it now for special events or when having pictures taken. I have always been blessed with a fairly good complexion so I didn't have to wear much even when I did wear it. For the longest time I have used Maybelline Matte Dream foundation and blush and then a colored lip balm or a matte lipstick. I think next time I buy make up I will go with a little less matte. I have been looking a Jones Road and Il Mirage. I am tempted by the Il Mirage color corrector as a base as I tend to have very rosy cheeks and nose. I am also suffering from age related loss of eyebrows so I need to do something about that. I don't usually wear eyeshadow but I do wear mascara. They quit making the kind that I used to wear so I am on the search for a new one. I am not picky about brands of lipstick they just need to be the right color and not to glossy or what I call greasy. So now it would be a color corrector, and very light foundation, a creme blush, an eyebrow color and a lip color. The only real problem I have is bags under my eyes, no dark circles just bags and I really don't know what to do about that.

Joe, June, and Fred had signed a contract with the realtor to represent them as sellers.

The final sale price was good, so in that respect, sure. But months had been invested in getting the work done, as well as a lot of money. It’s by no means clear that the final profit was better than it would have been without doing all the work, even though the house would have sold for a lower price.

    Gotcha.

If she had you do things specifically for the buyer that was not a part of the negotiations then that was definitely unethical and probably illegal. I don't know that you can do anything about it now, maybe report her to her broker but I would not use her again.

We had a problem like I listed above. we hired an agent to represent us as buyers and she tired to do everything the sellers wanted (including not letting us know that the AC wasn't working) to push the sell. We fired her and found a much better agent.

  15. I usually put the toilet bowl cleaner in and let set for about an hour then scrub and flush. If there are any stains left then another vote for a pumice stone. I usually have stains in the very bottom and back in the hole where the water comes in and it is hard to get a regular pumice stone in there. I went to Walmart in the beauty section and found a small pedicure kit with a small round pencil shaped pumice stone that fits down in there perfectly.

  16. It really depends on who the realtor was working for. Did you sign a contract with the realtor for her to work for you as a buyer's agent? If not she was working for the seller. In this particular case it sounds like it worked out best for everyone. But if she was in fact working for the seller and she did not disclose that fact it was definitely not ethical and may not have even been legal especially if she led you to believe that she was working for you. The question now is if it is even worth doing anything about it at this late date. If you are considering using her again, ask her whose agent she was before? That should give you the info you need to decide. But if you are considering using her as your (the seller's) agent, you already know that she will go above and beyond for you.

  17. A little of both:

Right now I am reading the board and drinking a beer.

My hubby is working on repairing the panel of fencing that fell over.

At about 3:00 all of my grandkids are going to show up so we can babysit while their parents go shopping.

Then I suppose that we will have to come up with something for dinner.

  18. I make it basically like the recipe above. I use Lipton or Luzianne but I only use 2 family size bags. This makes it a little less strong and a little less bitter. I use 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar. This comes out pretty much like McDonald's or Sonic's ice tea. I have an ice maker that makes ice like Sonic. I store the tea in the fridge and serve it over ice. I frequently involuntarily say, "Ahhh" after taking a drink as do all of my grandkids that mooch of me because tea out of grandma's cup somehow taste better. I have been making it like this since I was about 8 years old.
