  1. Can anyone tell me if this math provides enough repetition for learning addition and subtraction facts? I was thinking about getting this and R&S math 1. However, if it provides enough, then I will just stick with CLE MATH. Thanks for any and all input!!

  2. So now I'm curious (new homeschooler dad here). I was going to buy "Modern Curriculum Press’ Spelling Workout" as recommended in the TWTM book, but now this AAS looks real intriguing. I have an 8 and 10 year old. Can someone recommend which one I should use? Both read well, but both are just average (at best) spellers (darn you, public school!)

    Both programs look great. :)

Hi! Start with level one for both. Then go at their individual pace. This is for AAS. :)

  3. Well I am in the same boat regarding CLE LTR. I have OPGTR and do like it. Plus I have always used ETC for my other two. I just thought CLE LTR would include everything. Uggggghhh...there are so many good choices. I don't have any advice since I am with you in the undecided part. I will be reading other replies.

  4. Has anyone used these videos?

We are using L'art de Dire, but I'd like to add more in to our French studies, and we've read all the French books at the library oh, 500 times. :tongue_smilie:Should I worry about coordinating the two programs or just do them concurrently and let them reinforce each other when it happens?

How did you use the programs? Were you happy with the results? It seems like a good reinforcement, and it would definitely be nice for DD to hear someone other than me speaking! :D

Do you have a link to this program?

  5. I just bought Evan Moor Daily Science for my kids. It is based on 6 Big Ideas and each Big Idea is split into 5 weeks and further split into 5 days. So, it is pretty much all done for you. I decided that I am going to then add in some more "meat" with some books. I think the highest they go is 6th grade. So, I don't know if that will help with your 11 year old.

Prior to this, we would just read science based books.

    Good Luck! :)

  6. :grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear that!

This is the exact reason why I do not trust anyone(except mom, aunts) with my kids. Some might say that it is ridiculous, but I say that it is my job to protect my children in any way I can.

    Again, :grouphug:!!

Beware of the man who seems so nice to youngsters, works in the church, with youth, and often takes them fishing, hunting or other such things.

Just saying... and praying my son is giving us an honest answer to a VERY hard question. My son that suddenly became suicidal last year and doesn't want hugs and had other "issues" that stymied us.

Fortunately, in our case, our schedules didn't work out often enough for this man (and I use that word VERY loosely) to have as much alone time with my guy as he wanted, so there's hope he's telling the truth (my son, that is). But there was alone time. And I SO wish there hadn't been. I feel so gullible.

    Life does go on, right?

Man I feel for those (mostly in the church, not ours, but a nearby one) who are dealing with very difficult issues right now.

The "man" confessed concerning those who brought this to light. He's looking at 20 - 100 years in jail from what we were told (today). It's not a maybe situation - except with my son (and there might be others). I suspect it will be in the local papers before long.

DO NOT TRUST others with your child(ren) alone. NO ONE EVEN REMOTELY SUSPECTED THIS GUY. We all thought he was nice and appreciated him and all he wanted to do for the kids. The first confession (today) is from EIGHT years ago from what I heard - a reputable source wondering who else he'd been with. I'm sure more horrid details will come out.

Just saying - as I contemplate the future and what it all means - and keep wondering if my youngest is telling us the truth - or not.

Update and link to story on page 3. Actually, the link I can put in here:

Top story in our local paper this morning (sigh).

We still don't know if my son was a victim or not. He tells us no, but we don't know.

  7. Wow! Thanks for all of your stories and experiences!! I am so glad to know that everything will most likely be ok :grouphug:.

The thing about celiac is very interesting. I am going to look into it more. My daughter is vegetarian and a very picky eater, so I was thinking maybe she is deficient in something.

Also, about the gums. I wonder if her gum is too tough for her tooth to break through. Hmmmmm....

Lots to talk with the dentist about.

    Thanks so much everyone!
