I wouldn't switch her. She sounds a lot like me and I'm ambidextrous. I use my left hand for everything except for writing. I even sign (as in sign language) with my left hand. I can also write with my left hand, but I naturally write with my right hand. My dad is one of those kids that was switched from left hand to right hand back in the 60's and his writing is terrible.

No, this is not normal and your sister needs to do herself a service and get out. My mom got like this at one point and I decided to leave home quite suddenyl because of it. Best decision I ever made. It made her wake up and get help. We now have a much better relationship, but it's starting to go South again, though. I'm feeling the need to distance myself again.

I can't speak for sewing a body sock in particular, but sewing lycra is a HUGE pain, even with a machine. I don't think anyone could sew by hand well enough to keep it together. I suggest finding someone with a serger or coverstitch machine or just sucking it up and ordering one.

my personal attitude towards carseats on a plane is that if the plane is going down, the plane is going down and no seat is going to change that. If I have a carseat waiting for me on the other end, I don't think it's worth it to bring along. My son always wants to sit in my lap, anyway.

If you're worried about who will be sitting in front of you and wanting to lean back, call and ask them to move you to bulkhead seating. People with kids will often get those seats so fewer people are "inconvenienced" by the kids. It can buy you a little extra space too, depending on the plane.

 

They won't do that for babies. Bulkhead seating has to be people who are old/mature enough to help people off the plane in an emergency.
