  1. Have you looked at MFW? :) We were doing AO, but I found the books boring. The activities and map work with MFW are fun. Adventures has been a good fit so far.
  2. Second book? You know, I'm wondering if you are using MOH instead of MFW? MFW 2nd grade adventures is only American History, no world history like SOTW and MOH's second book. I hope you find what you are looking for.
  3. I can't thank you all enough for all the details, both good and bad. Very, very helpful.
  4. I have read so many posts with people raving about it. I would like to know if anyone has decided it wasn't a good fit, for whatever reason. Have you left MFW for something else and why?
  5. We are going to be trying MFW Adv starting in January. Just waiting for the box to arrive. :)
  6. I think we are going to use Adv along with MFW K. I noticed in the sample TM there was a Thanksgiving week around week 13. If we start in January, will we be too far "off" with the holidays and seasonal activities?
  7. What amazing customer service! They've already called me back. I am so impressed. I have a lot of thinking and praying to do thank you, ladies.
  8. Great to know for my youngest. I was a little concerned of getting through it too soon, but if I can repeat with her later, that's great!!
  9. Thank you, ladies. I see you can repeat ECC in older years. That gives me a lot more to think over and pray about. I called MFW yesterday, but I don't expect to hear from them until after the new year. I appreciate you sweet ladies answering all my questions. I am excited to see it at my local convention in a couple of months. I thought of getting MFW K now and using it for my youngest and concentrate on the 3Rs with my oldest until the fall. Don't know. I am relaxing much more now seeing that I can combine them in a complete program. :)
  10. My youngest just turned 6 and cannot read yet. Eventhough we dropped Sonlight Core K, we still used Sonlight's LA K and readers to teach my oldest to read. I didn't care for it, but it got the job done. If I do Adv, I still need something to help my youngest to read. I'm wondering if I should do MFW K also? I also noticed there is a deluxe and basic edition. If I buy the basic package, are the deluxe actvities and assignments in the TM also? I already have a lot of the deluxe books for adventures, so I was just going to buy the basic package if the TMs were the same. Thank you all for all your help. I'm starting to calm down. :)
  11. Thank you for all the recommendations. Can you use Adventures over two years? Is there enough material to stretch it out? That way we wouldn't get to the 5 year cycle too soon for my youngest. What do you all think?
  12. Sandy, They are new 8 and 6, so 2nd and K right now. I'm not doing anything over Christmas, so I would be starting fresh in January. I would like to combine them, if possible. My Ker is not reading yet, so maybe I could do K and an accelerated 1st grade, then combine them when we finish in Adventures? I'm babbling out loud now. Sorry. I'm so new to this. I just started this past summer and it's more complicated than I thought. I would like it more scheduled, but flexible so I can use it for both children. Thanks for listening.
  13. Can you tell me why you like it? Our background of what we have used and why we didn't like it: We've tried Sonlight K (I only bought the IG, we used the library). It had too much reading of really emotionally hard books. Neither one of us liked it as a whole, it lasted 2 months. I like the schedule, though. Robinson Curriculum in theory is great, but I was overwhelmed at the thought of printing all those books and just handing them to my child. I never even tried. I think I need a TM of some sort. :glare: Ambleside Online. We went through all of Year 0 and most of Year 1, but the books were too old fashioned for us, boring, really. :blushing: some of them we really liked, but the history was over her head. What year of MFW would you suggest I put my kids in and can they be in the same package like Sonlight?
  14. Thank you for all the suggestions. I wish there were one that I could do a few subjects together with both kids, probably not an option, but I will continue to look. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who was having a hard time with some of the books, not all, but enough for me to look around.
  15. Sagria, thank you so very much for your reply. I was starting to feel embarrassed because we weren't enjoying the books. I will look at tanglewood.
  16. Thank you for the suggestions. I forgot about searching. I'm still new to this. Do any of these you mentioned have guides also?
  17. We have been doing Year 1 from Ambleside Online. Quite frankly, it is boring for us. We don't really care for most of the books. I like short lessons, Bible study and living books, just not the ones we are reading now. What other Charlotte Mason curriculum do you use?
  18. This planner is actually recommended on the Robinson Curriculum website. Click on Resources under Helpful Links.
