I haven't done any type of testing with my ds so far (we are finishing up vol. 1 this year); but I know my dh would really love it if he got some "testing" practice. We do narration as sort of a quiz-like form; but nothing formal. Would the tests be helpful?

I'm finishing up ancients this year (Vol. 1 SOTW) and we've done various other periods in a random sort of fashion; but I'd like to get into a cycle like they suggest in WTM; but I'm not sure how to start it. My son will be in 4th and dd will be in K and I DON'T want to plan two different histories. Advice? Should I just start them both in Vol. 2 of SOTW?

My son is loving it too. I stumbled on the book at a thrift book store for $3, then I ended up getting the rest of the curriculum. We did all the lessons today for the first time and he didn't complain one bit...which is a miracle for my boy!

The one closest to my area (which isn't close) didn't include a price. Humm, wonder if I could get them to do a camp in my area?

Bumping this up to see if anyone knows where I can find prices...

Honestly if you don't like the optional readings and want to use SOTW as a spine, I'd just get a SOTW reading schedule (someone has posted a free one, can't remember where). I pretty much used HIH only as a reading schedule, so I didn't get much out of the program. I ditched it after a while because my son wanted to do his own schedule. I felt like using the activity guide of SOTW would be just as good or better than HIH, just my 2 cents.:tongue_smilie:

My kids are 9 and almost 5. They will be doing 4th and K next year.
Checking out that link.

We make it work with the book, the guide and an Usborne encyclopedia of history (and a bonus of the CDs - but these are not necessary). My son loves SOTW so much, that he will just sit and read it without anything else. He's listened to vol. 1 so many times, but he never tires of it. Since it is in story format, he loves it. Hope that helps!

I really don't have the money to spend on RS right now, but I would love a gentle, easy intro to spanish for my kids. It could even be game based, I just want something that can give them some intro without breaking the bank. Ideas?

Where does it say the price? I looked it up on the link and couldn't find any prices.

Does it have other activities for dc or is it just the answers to the questions? I haven't looked at the books in a while, so I don't remember how they are set up. Thanks!
