can you put a splash of bleach in the wash?
I try to avoid bleach in cleaning, but I always have some on hand for linens.
You could also try sunning the towels, or baking soda in the wash and white vinegar in the rinse cycle.

CO works. that's all.

I was going to suggest Weight Watchers as well. It helps me keep things in perspective. :001_smile:
I follow a Traditional diet (Weston A Price, Nourishing Traditions, Real food, Eat Fat/Lose Fat etc.), so it really helps and I do feel best when eating real food and not "fad" food. I don't eat anything fat-free or low-fat either or fake-sweeteners. All real food, good fats.

I noticed on Queen's website that she has in her easy packs the 3rd vol. of Living History of the World listed, but she does not have it listed in any other part of her website. Is the 3rd vol. even out yet? Just wondering...Thanks to all of you have answered my questions.
I believe that it will be out sometime this summer. :)

We are wrapping up Vol.1 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The style of writing has kept our little ones engaged and the illustrations are just beautiful (IMO). We used the student journal (I need help when it comes to notebooking) and DD (1st grader) loved it. Like the PP stated, DD made this book her own and it helped her retain a lot.
DD is a HUGE reader so, I have supplemented for each chapter. She reads during quiet/rest time or other times during the day. I have used the Beautiful Feet literature lists and the lists from Turning Back the Pages of Time.
**We love it so much we plan on using Vol. 2 & 3 (and 4, 5, 6!)

I don't think it is harsh at all. It has to be fixed either way.
Our DD broke a bowl last year, after I told her several times to stop sliding it across the table between her hands. She didn't listen to me. So, it slid off the table and broke. I told her it was coming out of her allowance. 6 years old... and I don't think it was harsh.

I think that is just dandy.

:grouphug:Ok. We're facing a pretty much certainty that my financial benefits are going to be cut in half for some time...appeals take months to be heard.MIL has conceeded that she's not well enough to travel this summer.
Wolf feels an obligation to go visit her.
I don't see how, financially, thats going to work. At all.
For one, our van can't make that kind of trip. Which means renting a vehicle...to travel to another province. $$.
Also means that he'll take at least 2 days off work. $$ lost.
In all, btwn lost wages and travel expenses, I can't see how this can be done under $1,000.
I just don't see how we'll afford this. Wolf's unhappy with my pointing this out, b/c he feels its unfair to NOT visit his mother. I have no problem with the visit, but affording it.
*sigh*
I haven't read the other posts. WE are going thru this same thing.
Except... it is going to cost us about $5k to visit DH's family. Ugh. Just ugh. DH's family is in Western NY. They expect us to come visit b/c we live in CA, and people in CA are millionaires. :glare: MIL is not doing well either. DH's siblings have not made the best financial decisions... so... it's up to us now. DH's sibs have kids, ALL much older. WE are the ones with the littles... but are expected to travel. Gee, thanks.
I hope you can convince your DH to go by himself. That is what I am trying to do...

we have an oooooold wooden metronome that we bought second hand when I was very little, my parents gave it to me when I got the piano. Maybe you could find one on Craigslist or ebay?
I don't know anything about the digital/electronic ones.

I wanted to order everything last month, but I've been searching high and low for used items... it's taking a bit of time now. :) I hope to have everything by the end of June.

This happened to my friend's son a few years ago... he was only 13.
WARNING: Faint of heart, do not scroll down.
His parents found him. It was an experiment. He was only supposed to choke himself until he passed out (via hanging)... he was even video taping himself to show his friends later...
tragic.

we used to have one in our garage, then gave it to a friend in need. We never had any problems with it being in the garage, even in the heat of summer.
We now have an upright freezer in our garage and it's so GREAT!

I love any book listed on the Ambleside site for "year 0". Another list to look at is in the book Honey for a Child's Heart.

please see my answers in red. :D
Questions for everyone that simply makes their own -Is it sticky? No. It has the same texture as solid stick deodorant.
Is it clear or can you see it? no, it is not clear. it is white, just like regular solid deo.
It seems like it would be a white paste-like substance. yup!
How do you apply it? i put mine in a 1/2 pint mason jar. I just use the back of my thumbnail to scrape some out. It softens with from the heat of your body.
Sorry, if this sounds completely moronic, I'm just having a hard time visualizing what I would do with a bowl of this mixture. Does it solidify? Yes it does. During hot summer months, it can be quite soft if your home gets warm. You can always store it in the fridge.
Thanks!

I mix up some baking soda and coconut oil until it's a creamy consistency. Adults or children can use it since it contains nothing harmful.
this is SUPER easy... you cannot mess it up! I make my own. VERY easy, mild, and YOU know what is in the product!

I use Bare Minerals make-up which has a natural SPF. I also use their sunscreen (a powder) that is SPF 30. We've never had burns using that. It is amazing and doesn't sweat off. :D

Really, just 6 covers? The fitteds need covers, too, right?
;) I did say "at least". I have 1 dozen covers for newborn stage, but I know some who go with just a few and hand wash during the day.
Yes, fitteds need covers too.

I am a "basics" type of gal when it comes to cloth diapering. I don't like the fancy diapers, because... well... they are POO HOLDERS! Here's what I had in my basic stash for newborns:
2 dozen unbleached Infant-sized prefolds
1 dozen fitteds (Little Lions brand)
at least 6 covers (I like Bummis pants and wraps)
at least 3 Snappi's
2 small wetbags for the diaper bag
1 large wetbag for the Sterilite can in the garage
baby washcloths for wipes
squirt bottle (like the free peri-bottles from the hospitals) filled with water and a drop of babywash for the wipes
for washing, I soaked the diapers w/ a capful of Biokleen Bacout. Then did a HOT wash with.... DAWN non-ultra dish soap, then 2 rinses. (we have a top-loading washer) :D

We have a Samsung fridge, french doors on top, freezer on bottom. Ice maker, etc. We LOOOOOOOVE IT! The ONLY THING:
when the ice drops after being "made", it's kind of loud. When you first hear it, you'll be startled. :001_smile: Other than that, we have ZERO complaints.
S/O entertaining: what are your company meals?
