  1. Do you have the main, hardbound WWE book? I'd be more likely to start her there and test up till you find the spot where she needs to work. I wouldn't think she'd need a whole level of the WWE2 workbook, but that's just me.

No but I will get it! I think I will try 3 this summer and then move her up. I keep feeling anxious about not starting all of this sooner with her and feel like I need to go to the beginning and RUN her through it all to make up!!

  3. DS had straight As the first 9 weeks and then came home with A,B,B,C,D no explanation. That was the straw that broke the camels back for us. My oldest DD is struggling in reading and they have ignored my frequent requests to have her get help. I'm just tired of the crap and since I am more than educated to fix anything I see wrong....might as well. I find that I have a renewed sense of purpose and hope to share my love of learning with my kids as we venture into Latin and other areas I have not seen in years!

  4. thank you for all of the insights. I should have added that we do currently attend an Episcopal church. DH was raised Catholic so I doubt he would go for anything too far from that course-KWIM? I hope that as I HS the girls next year and do Bible work with them that I rediscover my own faith. Attending CC classes once per week will also serve to introduce a more Christian approach for them. With any luck the faith and love you ladies exude will spring flow through the computer and into me! I envy so many of you!!:)

  5. After sitting through a CC intro I find myself wondering just what the heck I believe. I believe in God and Jesus but also don't have issue with Darwin. I question many so called "miracles" in the Bible and don't see it as a book of fact but an interpretation of what happened during those times...kind of like a history book with one view. I don't care for all of the pomp and circumstance in church services. I was raised Episcopal for a reference point but really am not sure what I am now and if I will fit in with the CC community. I so want my kids to have stronger faith and feel more secure in what they believe. Does ANY of this make sense?

  6. Just my 2 cents but when I taught public I was so annoyed that the kids they pulled for "gifted" ed were the overachieving, teacher pleasers, and not the really gifted. Many times they are kids with below average grades who buck the system and get in trouble! PSs ignore these kids. Smart is one thing. Gifted is another. I always looked for the rule breaker who could somehow manage decent test grades even though he really didn't try hard. The pain in the neck that asks a bizillion questions about stuff. One on one many kids can be taught tons of stuff that is above grade level so that is really no indication for me.
