They have a 50% the first month if you do the monthly pass - that means you pay only $19.95 for the first month - no registration fee with the monthly pass - so if you wanted to get the materials, and don't know anyone who is a member that could buy them for you, that might be the way to go. I've heard that they bill for the second month automatically within 2 weeks though, so if you plan to cancel the monthly pass, you'd have to do so relatively quickly to avoid being charged for that second month at full price ($39.95)
I'm joining and going to my first meeting this week - I was a member years ago until I got pregnant with my youngest (she was a result of what friends and I joked as being the "weight watcher's curse" - several of us got halfway to goal and surprise surprise, wound up pregnant  - of course now that baby is 6.5yo and I'm heavier than ever, sigh) - I can't wait to learn about the new program! And to fit in my skinny jeans :tongue_smilie:

you could also try a Croc straightener - just as expensive, but in my research it came out the (very slight) winner over the Chi - I purchased ours a couple of years ago and have had no troubles with it. My hairdresser recommended it. It has the variable temperatures and I see Amazon has a bunch of them in the $80 price range. And yeah, HUGE difference over the cheaper ones sold in drugstores.
Now I'm looking at curling wands (the ones without the clamp - we borrowed one and....amazing!) and wondering the same thing - are the cheap ones just as good? But that's a post for another thread...totally not thread-jacking  Nope, not me. Not what I'm doing here!

This is so helpful and adorable - all at the same time! Total win. Thanks so much for sharing it. I'm going to hang one on the wall and give one to the girls for their notebooks!

Hi! I've been a lurker for a while, but have only recently started posting every so often. I have four daughters, three still at home and actively homeschooling - I've been homeschooling off and on since 1993 (my oldest daughter was mostly in public school though) :-) Currently I have an 11.5yo, a 9yo and a 6.5yo - they've all been homeschooled from the beginning and we have no plans to stop anytime soon - I lean towards more relaxed approaches, but as my older one ages, I find myself desiring more structure and accountability. I also work pretty much full-time from home, which certainly presents its own challenges.

We enjoy many of the ones already mentioned, but thought I'd add to the list by mentioning that we love any of the rayman raving rabbids games - you can get some of the older ones pretty cheap, and they are awesome. We also ADORE both of the Just Dance games..I'm looking at the newest Rayman game and the Dance on Broadway for holiday gifts this year...

my 9yo daughter LOVES the Baby Mouse and Fashion Kitty graphic novels - she's been a Baby Mouse fan for a couple of years and just recently added Fashion Kitty to the mix.

The liquor store in our city gives out lollipops to the kids who come in with their parents.
Our liquor store does too. My kids love going there...hmm, wonder how this booze=yummy-sugary-goodness thing will play out for them as adults :D
When I was a kid my dad owned a liquor store for a while. I specifically remember hanging out there with him and if he thought a customer was coming, my sister and I had to quickly run to the back to hide as it was illegal for kids to be in there - this was in OK during the 70s.

I just got one too a few days ago and also wasted some time trying to peel that screen off :tongue_smilie:

Most communities have mental health centers where therapy is offered for free or reduced fees (like on a sliding scale) - also if you live near a university, there are usually programs set up through the grad schools that offer reduced-fee treatment options.

There are ways to cheat on it :-) Someone mentioned cheating to me once (because I do get high scores, but not like what you describe.) When my friend teased me about it, I thought there was no way one could cheat on an online game like that, but google proved me wrong. Apparently there are several ways to cheat, so maybe! :D

My daughter just uses Windows Movie Maker - its free too (came with her Windows 7 laptop, and with my Windows Vista desktop) and pretty intuitive. She figured it out all on her own (she's 11) - she hasn't done the clay-mation, but has done some stop-motion stuff with her stuffed animals and I was pretty impressed what she'd done in her first few attempts! She added captions and a soundtrack to her last one!

The other night I found myself saying something to my nine year old that I never thought I'd utter - "Its 11 o'clock and I'm SERIOUS, put your math book away. You can do more tomorrow - go to sleep!"

Our group just uses lulu.com - very good quality and super affordable.

hey all, I'm Deanna - I turned 40 this week and I (re)joined Weight Watchers this week ;-) I need to lose about 80lbs - I was successful with WW in the past, getting halfway to goal, and apparently all the way to irresistible because I then had a surprise pregnancy ;-) My baby is now 6.6 years old and I weigh more than ever...so here we go again (except without the surprise pregnancy halfway to goal!)
