My dh looked long and hard at many of the hybrids out there and decided that he liked the honda civic best. He loves driving it and yes it has that thing where at a stop light the car goes completely quiet because it's not using the gas engine at all. We've never had any issues with it and it tells him on the dashboard display what kind of milage he's getting it's usually in the 40-46 mpg area.
The thing I like about it is that it doesn't look any different from the standard civic. It doesn't have that weird space age look that some of the hybrids have.
We both love it although I don't drive it too much because we have 3 kids all in car seats or boosters so we don't all fit in it.
I sure wish someone would make a hybrid mini-van. Although with the two dogs we're growing out of a mini-van too. We're a military family so we move ALOT and need lots of room in the vehicle for when we move from one state to the other. Maybe I need to hope for a hybrid Ford Expedition instead. :)

We tried SL this year and it was a disaster. I like picking the things I think my kids will enjoy and sometimes that means different companies for different kids.
This is our 2nd year hsing. The first year I pulled things together on my own because the cost of the big box programs was just too much. This year we had the funds for the big box and went for it, only to find out it's not our style.
We love picking out curriculum, I love the research of it as well as the planning.

We are currently using Evan-Moor theme pockets for january and studying Penguins.
We tried SL science and it wasn't a good fit.
After the penguin unit we'll be using Evan-Moor Scienceworks Geology.
Next year we're going to use R.E.A.L. Science Life Science level 1 (pandia press)

It's only our second year but I love planning.
I also don't want to get caught in the summer rush as we usually start school in early august so we can take a long winter break.
I also buy my curriculum with money from the tax refund. Dh and I like to know about how much things will cost (full price) then we actually transfer part of our refund from our main account to a seperate checking account I set up just for school. I also like to have time to look things over before I start teaching from them, just in case I need to gather books or supplies.

I hope the link shows up in my signature

Tara,
We've lived here twice before for some reason they never seem to leave us here, it's been 1 tour here then go somewhere for 1 tour then back here. LOL
We're hoping ot stay here for a while this time. A while being more than 1 tour. We do like it here and we've been to the Aquarium in VA beach once but I'm not sure about the marine science museum. I'll have to check and see if it's the same thing or different.
We have done the Living history museum and air and space center up in the Hampton/NN area. We're hoping to finally get to the zoo this year and check it out, we've heard it's really nice.
My dh is a LCDR and he's currently with one of the strike groups up here.
He'll be in and out for the most of this year. Most likely will be gone for April and May and then a deployment in early 2009.
We've been married 10 years so we're used to him being gone. It's tough but we actually have "navy friends" that are about 20 miles from us we knew way back when we only had 1 child so we've known them a while and she hs's their kids too.
Hopefully we'll find some other locals soon.
Where in FL are you, we just came back here from Jacksonville. Nice place but the heat got to us this time (dh and I grew up in IA and WI)?

We recently moved to Chesapeake. We are, yes as you may have guessed, a Navy family. :)
Anyone out there in this area?

We used ETC for ds last year (2nd grade)
This year we tried SL (big bust), Complete book of LA (good but not enough), FLL level 3 (my son really disliked this) So now we're going to try GWG and Writing Strands. We'll see how it goes. Oh and we are using SWO C this year and he loves it.
For my dd who's in K/1st we're using OPGTR, ETC 1 and SWO A.

I definately like the change.
Old WTM ed and grammer question

I'm just curious because I'm new to TWTM but I would think that FLL 3 would be considered a good option after FLL 2 and then they are coming out with FLL 4 later this year.
