  1. I'm not involved but there is a troop associated with one of dd's co op groups. The leader has spoken a few times with the Co op parents. He's retired military. I cannot imagine that their troop is disorganized.

Your troop is new and the leaders are still finding their way. But. If the leaders can't make time to get it really going after one year of existence I wonder if they ever will, without help.

I suggest eithervolunteering with some admin jobs to ease the load on the leaders or finding a BSA troop. Maybe one sponsored by a Catholic parish would meet your needs?

  2. I recently flew Southwest. On one flight the attendants asked for someone to switch sears so that a parent and child could sit together. Someone took them up in it.

I'm sure they will do it for you as long as the child isn't a teenager. I had B one time and I got an aisle seat with an empty middle next to me. I think you can get two seats together towards the back of the plane. Three, I'm not so sure.

  3. I've got occular problems too. I've been using Dermodex face wash once per day for a year now and I think it helps. I put it on, lather it up especially around the eyes (not in the eyes! It really stings!), then let it sit on for a few minutes.

  4. BTDT. What I did was pull him out of DE for 12th grade, pull him closer to family (made him drive me and DD to most of her classes as well as his) and enroll him in home school classes including AP US History.

I told him that we'd just take a year to grow in a different way.

He just finished at the local CC. He's accepted to all the schools he applied to. ADHD. Engineering. It just takes some extra time to grow up for these guys.

    It will be ok.

  5. Stay on top of the infection! Take the antibiotics and do anything you can to ease the congestion and maybe open the airways in your sinuses. Drink tons of warm water, Hot soup, spicy food, sleep upright, ibuprofen, sinus wash, mucinex, real sudafed.

ASAP get treatment for the anxiety. Get the CT scan. You have a bad infection inside your skull. Near your brain. Tip top priority is to clear it up. Nothing else is this important.

I'm guessing you have an abscess in your sinus. It may require iv antibiotics or surgery.

  6. Check out the Weed Dragon. It attaches to a propane tank and you burn the weeds out. You can then reseed. Most weeds burn right up but those with tap roots will recover so you can keep the flame on longer to cook the taproot or just pull them.

I tend to keep a hose on nearby. Just in case.

  7. Just beware of cross contamination. Start with clean utensils and countertops. Use paper towels if you can. Fabric kitchen towels must be fresh. If you normally use lots of nuts or nut products in your kitchen be very careful. Wash tools before using if they ever get used in nuts.

Some things depend on the person's sensitivity. For some folks if you roasted nuts in your oven since last cleaning it it could be a problem. Some folks only if you roasted them irecently and some folks wouldn't have a problem. Soap and water plus a good rinse beats chlorox cleaning wipes and the like when it comes to removing allergens.

  8. Coming back to say that you should make sure both parents have no hip displasia.

In regards to all the recommendations for standard poodle: if the allergy issue is your only priority they are likely right. As a puppy you can't tell how "poodle-y" the dog's coat is going to be so you can't pick a more poodley puppy with much accuracy. If your first choice dog was a retriever but you need to consider allergies (my position) then get the doodle.

  9. We've a 14 year old goldendoodle. He's a first generation cross and on the large size: 95lbs and can rest his head on a standard table top without stretching.

He is wonderful. The best personality. Friendly and loving. Yes, energetic. If you don't have a runner in the family I recommend one of those flingers that throw tennis balls really far.

I'd have gotten a second one if he wasn't so large. I'm starting to think about it again now that he can't take 5 mile walks anymore.

He mostly sheds into his own coat. Regular brushing or a shortcut are necessary.

If you are super concerned with allergies and don't want a poodle you should consider an F1B pup. A first generation cross is crossed back to the poodle so you get a 3/4 poodle mix.

    Enjoy your new dog!
