I forgot the good news in all this was I had the drain/dishwasher/garbage disposal replumbed this summer. And, it worked, so I was able to use the dishwasher even though the drain/garbage disposal were blocked. In the past, that would have dumped all the water on the floor since it couldn't go into the sink.

I finally got it fixed today. It took two sets of of pliers to finally get it out, plus an hour or so of work. It took a lot longer since I kept sending kids away, who were not as helpful as I would have wanted. Then, I went to my room for a pity party. Then, finally it came out. I think I had been working on it so long that I squished all the lip down, so it could make it out. I'm throwing the cup out, so we don't have this trouble again.
