  1. I think FLL will be fine. If your children do well with Mcguffeys, then I'd say they won't struggle with FLL. There are no frills, it is mostly done orally, but like you said the memorization are for sweet rhymes. Perfect for first grade & k. It is mastery based, so you can skip some lessons if you don't think they need them. There is enough variety, picture lessons, memorization, copywork etc. It is simple, effective and will make your LA more rounded in addition to your mcguffeys. I've never heard of cottage press so can't offer any advice there.
  2. Thank you, I don't think R&S will work then, unfortunately. I didn't know saxon did a grammar program, I've tried to watch some videos on youtube and can't find much. I also like the look of voyagers in english, quite literally judging a book by its cover. Any recommendations of places where I can find some flip throughs or reviews?!
  3. To offer an alternative perspective, we are halfway through book 1 in the K-3 series, the new one with a DVD and we are really enjoying it!
  4. Hi, I am considering Rod and Staff English. It looks great, my only concern is the Christianity element. We are a pagan household. We do have some resources with an occasional mention of the Christian god in. That is okay, we explain it is a different religion the same as we we do for when something comes about the ancient Egyptian gods. Has anyone used it as a secular curriculum? Explaining it is just another religion? Could it work? Is it preachy? Thank you!
  5. Hi everyone, I thought I was going to give rays a go this year for my K child. I've now seen SCM Arithmetic Book 1 and that possibly looks better? What would you go for? Any feedback on either?
