  1. I could have written your post myself! I'll share a couple of things that have been life changing for me...first, I hired someone to come clean once a week. I got over the guilt of not being able to do it all. Best decision I've made! I'm very thrifty but this is worth every penny and I will scrimp in other areas to keep her coming! It keeps all of us accountable to keep things in good order so she can clean...it allows me to spend more time with family and makes me much more hospitable because I'm not always concerned with the condition of our house. Plus, she is a fellow homeschool mom so I feel like it's a win win.

As far as meals go, keep a stocked freezer and pantry. We bought a grass fed cow this year, I stock up on chicken when it's on sale. It costs more in the short run but pays off in spades since you always have a protein to cook without running to the store. I keep meals simple most of the time..plants & animals!

  2. We are in the same boat with my DD, we had exactly 10 lessons left, but I am just moving on to the next level and skipping them. No new concepts were taught in those last lessons and the new level has review built in to the first lessons. I felt it would just be busy work to make ME feel better, so we are moving on :)

  3. I can't say enough good things about CBS! We've been involved for the past 6 years and I've taught in our children's program for 5. The "rules" for not mentioning denom, politics, etc have never been an issue for me. The fellowship you gain in your core groups is wonderful. The study does require time to complete during the week and is in-depth. I have grown so much in my understanding of the Bible, some of my favorite books to study have been Revelation and Daniel.

I also serve on the Servant's team and can attest to the fact that much prayer is involved in every decision made for the Bible study from what books to study, to the teachers and participants put into each class.

I encourage you to give it a try :)

  4. Well, I actually planned...lol! That's different for me since I've been a fly by the seat of my pants gal for a long time. I used fellow Hiver PW23kids planning ideas, you can see it on her blog here. I have our year planned, all curriculum broken down by week, and have already matched up our science/history with our CC schedule. It was pretty painless and I feel so organized and ready for the year now!

  5. My dd has been taking piano lessons since Jan and we only have a 26 key keyboard. Her teacher said that would actually be fine for the first couple of years. It does not have weighted keys, but that really hasn't been an obstacle. However, she is really showing a strong interest and aptitude so I am shopping around now for a larger one. Point is, you can start small and inexpensive to see if there is interest before making a big investment.

  6. My DD7 makes her bed, cleans her room and any of her stuff left in living areas, sets the table, puts dishes in sink, helps unload dishwasher, takes her laundry to room, helps fold her laundry and puts in her drawers. She loves to dust and clean the glass in our front/back door, so I let her do that on occasion too. She loves to help me cook, but doesn't do that on her own. She will put toast or waffles for her and brother in toaster.
