CLE for us too! We started hs with Abeka (because that's what many hs'ers we know use) but DD found it too colorful and busy. Enter CLE and it's been a winner. She also enjoys the interesting facts on some of the pages.

yes, we are! Last year we started earlier (DD's request !?) but it just doesn't seem right to begin before Labor Day - just how I grew up to expect it and am wired that way :)
Happy New School Year!

Gotta love that! How's that for a unique "narration" of what was read!
I could see my DD doing this too!
Did you get a picture?

Any order is fine as pp said. Suggested order is Atoms, Matter & Eco - but choose what works for you.

How exciting! Happy reading!

As my mind works, lol, horizontal is more logical for a timeline but the back of a door is a great space saver (we used the back of door for our 4' human body poster last year). For our timeline we are using a 3-ring notebook. The pages are done so the DD can remove them and lay them out horizontally on a table or the floor to view a longer time period...you could do short horizontal strips on the back of the door and reposition them higher as you complete a strip to make more room and it would be convenient for her to add figures, just a thought...

LOL! Yes, after all your work wait the 9 weeks before changing things! I've been working on my plans for History/Geography and Science...
Congrats!

Just received our set in the mail today. There is a lot of info! It looks interesting; DH and I are looking forward to reading it! We may use it some now but it is mainly for next school year...

EJCmom, Thank you for posting this question as we are looking into a microscope too.
Thank you all for the info! Chandlermom, I appreciate your detailed info. I had no clue what to really look for in a microscope and DD9soon-2-b-10 :) is very interested in all things science. She would enjoy adding this to her studies.

I voted 80-84% is acceptable but I want DD to do her best. I know what she is capable of doing because of her daily work. I do keep track of her scores in LA and Math because it is easy to do and I like to know her scores. She is not satisfied unless she scores between 95 and 100%! We go over her errors and in math especially she reworks her error.

My DD used CLE LA4 and Math 4. It can take her anywhere from 30m to 45m+. Just depends on the lesson content and her concentration for a particular lesson/day. It has been a good curriculum choise for her overall.

I'll be interested in any responses too...we waiting on our Costco rebate and have been considering purchasing a microscope for our upcoming 5th grade DD also....

Thank you for the reminer!

Interesting idea for ancient history. The supplies they recommended sure add up...I'm sure it could be done simplier and less expensive. Thanks for sharing!

Momofonefunone, The way you use your planner sounds like what would work for us. I'm also the "mom of one fun one" :) and my DD will be in 5th gr next year so I'd really like to get her working with a planner and she already likes to journal. I'm sending you a pm...

I ordered and have our Math 500 and purchased the Teacher Guides ($9/ea) which have the answers too. I like to see the same page as DD when I'm working with her along with the answers....
