  1. I am trying to snag a used ECC set to use with tog 4 for my ds8 and dd6 (olders would do stuff as time allows). TOG 4 is a deep year and I thought it would be fun to focus more on geography of modern history than the history itself.

We will see if I can find a set cheap enough though, Money is super tight around here.

  2. Two of my boys have minds like steel traps. They constantly reference facts, skills, and trivia that they briefly studied years ago.

The other two claim not to recall a thing. Don't remember this book, don't recall that field trip. On one hand, that's pretty sad, but on the other hand I can see how homeschooling has shaped their character and informed their opinions. They see the world differently because they've been immersed in the best ideas for their entire childhood. All their lessons were worthwhile. Every historical event, every wonderful story, every chance to marvel at the natural world...these moments made them who they are and taught them to care about all the right things.

No, you are not wasting your time. I promise.

    Beautiful post.

  3. I am part of a great Montessori group here: http://m.facebook.com/?_rdr#!/groups/458239510907922?ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_activity&actorid=1024701455&__user=1178148338. It is all about free and inexpensive Montessori ideas.

I would read The Well Trained Mind. We use their history cycle and science cycle.

I also use Charlotte Mason approach a lot. That kind of organizes our life style and day. Throw in Montessori hands on and WTM rotations (we also use WWE and FLL which are LA resources from WTM) And that is our homeschool in a nut shell. :)
