  1. Here's the pictorial version of my year-in-review. Off the top of my head, I'd say my most memorable reads of the year were Wolf Hollow, Everything Sad Is Untrue, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Demon Copperhead, Forward Me Back to You, Out of the Easy, Our Missing Hearts, and Small Things Like These. I don't finish books if I'm not enjoying them or invested somehow, so generally there isn't a "bad" book in the bunch.  Several of these were re-reads, either as read-alouds with my 9 yo or with my high school English classes.

Do you envision this venture as solely a drive-through establishment, or will there be a place for customers to come in and drink there coffee?  If it is only a drive-trhough I would try to emphasize it in the name--something like Jo-to-Go, GoJo's, The Coffee Stop, Pick-up Perk, Espresso Express, The Coffee Hut, Perk Stop.  (and I would avoid names with "shop", "cafe", or "community" in them--in that they would imply more of a place with a sit-down atmosphere).

    What about On-the-Go Joe? 😂

Well poop. My long winded post was useless then. Lol

I have no idea. I’ve been on these board for a long time and I still stink at that.

Fwiw, I found your post helpful. 😋

    So far today:

    walked approx 2 mi

snacked on some Mary's Gone Crackers crackers (LOVE!)

    refilled cup with sparkling water

    to do:

shower (wash hair!) and get ready

    work 8 hrs

    buy groceries?
Whatever else I have energy for

Dh cooked hamburgers/veggie burgers on his new griddle he got for Christmas, so supper is more or less done. 🎉. Now to see what the evening holds.

  5. I'm interested.  I changed jobs (started this week), going from high-stress-and-time-intensive (teaching) to a much lower key position (public children's librarian) just this week.  My dh still has a very demanding job in education, but the majority of financial stuff has fallen to him our entire marriage. It's time for me to pick up the reins a bit, or at least share them more.  We are implementing YNAB (again!), and the accountability to keep up with it would be helpful for me.

That’s great! She has totally saved my back, lol. Idk if my problem is SI Joint or Piriformis, but I use her 10 min. SI Joint video 2-3x a week to remain functional!

I'm sorry you struggle with back pain, but I am happy (& encouraged!) to know you've found a way to keep functioning!
I have terrible plantar fasciitis and, more recently, knee pain, and I want to help myself.  I am only 48!

Delurking to ask a silly question but I'm thread-curious, do you guys write down your meals as you eat them then post?  I have a habit goal to stop snacking. I already know I would forget what I snacked on if I didn't write it down, but I know I would not stop mid-crunch to write.

I was about to ask the same question!  I'm NO stranger to food logs, but I wondered if you guys have a better/different way.

Good morning! I'm still abed, having decided that it's the coziest place to be this warmer-but-still-cold day.

I start my new job today!  I am a teacher/ school librarian, and I took a job before Christmas as my city's children's librarian.  It's a good move for me as I've never been able to teach without it totally overwhelming my life.  I'm excited!

    so--before work:

    shower and wash hair

    get ready for the day

    breakfast + coffee

    YNAB work

    tidy room

    meal prep for my lunch

    WORK! 🎉

do what needs to be done at home afterwards

Transitioning  to this new routine will take some adjustment. I used to get to school by 7 am daily, and sometimes as early as 6 am.  My earliest work time now is 9 am!

    Happy Tuesday!

Back home after my 8 hrs.  I had a good day!  I'm going to have to get some routines in place, but that might have to be when everyone else gets back to their school/work schedules.

So I volunteer at the museum and have taken on a lot of responsibilities there- I'm the Membership Coordinator and I am on the social media team, and I work at the front desk and I.... I do enough that I was awarded Volunteer of the Year this year.

But the museum is not my only gig. I have volunteered with a local organization that serves needy children at Christmas. I've been volunteering there for 7 years. It's dear to my ❤️.  I've been asked if I am.interested in being on the Board of Directors. 3 years ago before I joined the museum, I'd have done it in a heartbeat, even though I was still homeschooling at the time. Now I feel torn... I love this organization, I love its mission, i love being a part of it. But I really don't know if I can make rhe commitment in time and energy. Our oldest son and only grandchild are still in the UK and even if they come back stateside they will be far away. I like the freedom to travel to them. Part of me wants to accept. Part says I have enough on plate.

    Thoughts?

Personally I'd err on the side of freedom to travel.  Not being on the board won't lessen your commitment to the cause or your work there, but it will allow you the freedom of doing it on your terms.  Otherwise it might begin to feel like a job. The opportunity to do it later when you're less inclined to travel for whatever reason will likely be there. That's my 2 cents.

Anyway, I’m in a stage of parenting young adults, and I recently started talking to my kids about just HOW much I’m winging it, because I was not patented as a young adult. I had some frame of reference for newborn to 18, but that’s it.   I wasn’t thrown out on the street or anything, but I had no guidance or emotional support.
I didn’t ask my mother for more than she could/would/did “give”. Honestly, I harbor resentments that I’m working on. My kids want more, and I try. I don’t always succeed, but they do know I try!

I hope I'm not thread hijacking, but what does guidance and emotional support look like for YAs in your household?  Without providing too much personal info, at our house it is difficult because of personality differences and because of latent resentment over some feelings of abandonment during a medical crisis.  I would love to make this better but I genuinely don't know how.

Coffee out (Starbucks giftcard already put to good use!)

Clearance shopping at Target, Sam's, Lowe's

Accompany my dad to meet with financial advisor over recent sale of inherited property and house

    more shopping?

home for cleaning up bedrooms, organizing, whatever else comes up  (in progress)

thinking through goals and plans foR new year

play games or look at Christmas lights?

Got bedroom 1/2 way cleaned (why is this always this way?). Now we're about to go down to dmil's to eat supper. She bought Christmas dinner from our favorite Italian restaurant and we're going to eat leftovers.

Tested blood sugar…lowish. Had a snack.

Did some general tidying while listening to the Close Reads year-end podcast: folded and put away laundry, made a bed, swept, etc. Charging my headphones now for later listening.

About to snuggle under my blanket again, this time with 84 Charring Cross Road, which I have been wanting to read for a while.

Enjoy the novel!  What reader doesn't enjoy a book about books? 🥰

Still out and about.  Making one more stop and then home for lunch!  My stomach is growling!
