Another vote here for patternreview reviews!
I bought a Juki 654 from sewingmachinesplus.com this past summer. I have been very happy with it the few times I've used it. I've only sewn a few things, but the threading and the ease of getting the tension right makes a joy to use! I had a basic Singer serger before this and the finicky threading made me cringe any time I needed to use it.
Happy shopping!
(on a side note...for me, sewing machine shopping is similar to selecting a baby name. It's fun to look around, but when I've got to make the final decision it's a little intimidating.)

If you're thinking of purchasing a membership, you might want to check out the Costco membership special at LivingSocial.
(Just for the record: I don't live in the U.S., nor have I ever used LivingSocial...but I saw the deal and if I did live in the U.S. I'd be tempted.)

Old Navy or Gap plus have been a good off-the-shelf fit here too.

My ds10 got contacts this past winter. He mainly uses them when playing sports, especially hockey and baseball. He wears disposables. Sometimes I put them in for him, but usually i just hold his eye open (top & bottom lids) while he puts them in. I think there's a lot of flexibility as to how you can get them to work for children.

Exercise e.g.watch but mute Leslie Sansone, and listen to Adventures and Odyssey, etc. with one or more of the kids usually joining me. Makes the exercise time go by so much quicker!

My five year-old too struggles with making the rrr sound. Poor guy - his name starts with an r and people frequently have trouble understanding him when they ask him for his name.

Thanks for sharing! I scanned through the Sound Story and I know my 5 year old will enjoy it and learn from it. :)

Is this the site for the Bible studies? Also wondering if I'm reading this correctly . . . is it $5 for each session? e.g. Esther would be $5 x 10 sessions = $50
Thanks!

My sister announced her pregnancy by "acting out" pregnant while us adults were playing the game Guesstures.
Congratulations!

Sorry, dp.

Neat! That looks like a great machine with a lot of options!! Thanks for sharing which machine you purchased.

I would second the option of checking a sewing machine store vs. a department store. The sewing machines already listed are wonderful brand names. I bought an old used Bernina 830 which has metal inside instead of plastic. It works great but doesn't have a lot of fancy options. I too have been looking for sewing machines for my daughter (not this year, but possibly in a year or two) and I've wondered if getting one with a slow and normal speed option would be beneficial... So many variables - have fun deciding :) I would love to hear what you decide to purchase.

Oh, no! I'm sorry!! :grouphug: Praying for you and the man's family.

Ouch! I too missed it!! :( What a great sale - it was so nice of y'all to share it here! It is so much fun to surprise and gift our children. How nice of AG to have the sale just before Christmas.

Thanks for the many great options! Very helpful!! Thank you!

My dd8 just bought an American Girl doll - a first for her. My ds5 often plays with her and would like a boy doll similiar to an American Girl doll. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My daughter has played with Loving Family dolls for years. She is 8 and still plays with them daily. My 5 year old son will often play with her. There are a lot of neat accessories, sets, and furniture you can buy.

I like the worksheets for the same reason others have mentioned. We do a lot of the work orally, except diagramming and a few other things. The worksheets allow my children to do the work without requiring me at the same time. Just a nice way to change it up. The worksheets don't contain everything covered in the textbook assignments. Generally the "review" portion of the text is not covered in the worksheets.

I'm asking for a friend...
She is looking for the answer keys for the 3rd edition Bob Jones Math Grades 4 & 5.
Are these available in a booklet style with answers only, or if she wants the answers does she need to purchase the complete teacher manual?
I know there is a math curriculum out there that you can purchase answer keys for separately (from a different publisher I think), but I don't remember which curriculum. I have searched the boards - to no avail! That says more about my search abilities than anything else. :glare:
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
