  1. Need some suggestions, we are entering our 6th year of homeschooling so i am not new to this. But this particular child challenges me. We are in need of History, Literature, English, and an elective. 10th Grade She prefers textbooks, but is questioning her faith. She will use Christian books, but not sure if I should push them on her or not. She used to love to read but hasn't in awhile, i would prefer to not rely solely on textbooks. Need something with a schedule, or one easy for me to come up with so she is accountable. She works better with a schedule. She has had Geography. I want to save Government/Economics for Senior year along with some British Lit, and American History/Lit for 11th. So I am thinking either Ancient, World, or... My other kids have their curriculum so this would just be for her. Suggestions welcome!

  3. That is odd they'd wait till August, most people want to get planning started, hmm
  4. I am considering the My Well Planned Day software instead of the paper planner. It looks and sounds wonderful! But I know they had some glitches and issues with the Beta version. I can't seem to find any recent reviews good or bad. Anyone use it lately, what are your opinions? Thanks!
  5. Has anyone held their child back from the next grade, especially in high school? How do you know if you're doing the right thing? Is there a way to repeat a grade, but get caught up and still graduate "on time" ? Thanks!!
  6. So far I have 2 teenagers, more to come :) My oldest, 18 was really a pretty good kid. No boyfriend, drugs, sex, drinking, was home by 9pm even on weekends, and most weekends didn't go out at all. She can have a mouth and attitude, but nothing more than I had as a . teenage girl. She graduated, has a boyfriend now going to college in the fall. I could handle all that and felt confident as a parent. THEN we had teenage girl #2! Confidence gone! Has given us a constant headache since age 13, or before. Her attitude is fairly good, but everything else...ugh! I do blame myself and y husband for not being nearly as consistent as we should have. But this kid is manipulative, sneaky, will fall prey to any kind of peer pressure, expects the world to revolve around her, thinks her phone and her ability to hang out with friends is a God given right. So please tell me what the basic rules for teens are in your home please. We are ready to rein in this kid and get her turned around!!
  7. No, I would never give her credit for not actually completing that, never said that! She didn't get it done because of a complete lack of desire on her part. We moved, and I was overwhelmed with baby, so I definatley didn't push her the way I should have! That is all changing! She has to complete Geometry before moving on.
  8. I need some advice, my rising 11th grade daughter is waaay behind in math. She was homeschooled from 6-8th did Math at her level, went to PS for 9th, passed Algebra with a 74, and we homeschooled again for 10th (and will continue till graduation). She did Geometry for 10th, but only probably completed 20% of her lessons and barely passed what she did complete. She used to love math, but as a teenager hates it! She is not sure about college, but I definitely want her to fulfill enough credits to get in if she chooses. She probably won't go into a science or math career. What can I do to get her 4 full math credits? I feel if she completely retakes Geometry, how will she have time to get Algebra II, and another math in before graduating? Her sister did dual credit Math at the local CC her senior year so I am leaning towards that for this child as well. I am sorry for rambling, just not sure where to start.
  9. I live here, and need to take the kids to something! We are moving in 8 days so I feel I don't have time. My oldest went with a friend and loved it.
