Aloha2U
Has anyone completed the Java Programming (AP) course by CompuScholar and then attempted the AP Exam: Computer Science A? Edited March 18, 2018 by NCAmusings
Aloha2U
Anyone? I wonder if this is a new course being offered. Would this course with an AP Exam be a better option than a dual credit course?
3andme
No personal experience but I think this company has been around for a while. It looks like they may have repackaged their older course called Teen Coder for Java for AP. Here's a thread on the Teen Coder course and AP but it's a few years old. There's also Edhesive if you're looking for an option with more current reviews/users. Edited March 19, 2018 by 3andme
SoCal_Bear
If you google Edhesive and well trained minds, the threads will come up in the search. Search function on here is not very accurate. There are a number of members who have used the Edhesive ones.
Aloha2U
Thank you for the links and heads-up on edhesive! We've checked out a few others, to include the online course by PA Homeschooler, but settled on edhesive. Huge help, so thanks again! I am also looking for AP Computer Science A for next year. I couldn't figure out how to sign up for the Edhesive class as a homeschooler. SoCal_Bear
Do both. A lot of kids learn Python first and then Java. I believe the Intro class on Edhesive uses python towards the end. There are good courses that others have recommended that are on Udemy. There's even a pretty fun way to learn python through CodeCombat for 9+. These were the ones I remember were mentioned on Udemy by other WTMers. These courses when on sale are as little as $10 for the full course. Complete Python Bootcamp (Padilla) Web Dev Bootcamp (Colt Steele) Complete Python 3 Course, Beginner to Advanced (Gervais/Delgadillo) Complete Python Masterclass (Buchalka) Complete JAVA class (Tim Buchalka)
