Momof3plus
We’re using sequential spelling level 1 and we did the first spelling evaluation today, Day 40. My son did really well but for two of the words, when he was reading the spelling out to me, I must’ve raised an eyebrow or something as before I even said it was incorrect, he stopped and quickly changed it to the correct spelling. Should I mark it as correct or go off his original spelling and mark it as incorrect? I kind of feel bad marking it as incorrect as he did self correct it without me prompting or helping him. Kiara.I
I haven't used that curriculum, but... Who are the marks submitted to? I mean, the point of teaching spelling is so that children can spell. The point of doing spelling tests is one of: a) letting a teacher know which kids in the class are progressing b) reporting to a parent how well the teacher is succeeding in teaching the child c) motivating a child to study the words (which might or might not be effective anyway.) So, for your situation, what effect does it have to mark it either right or wrong? What is the prompting behind having an assessment? Does it intend to show you which words to review? If so, do you feel this words need more review? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
