Is it rude for students to draw in a large class?

Recommended Posts

If you're listening to a speech or guest speaker, then I'd agree that looking like you're doing something else (even if you're still listening) might seem rude.  But in class when the teacher is lecturing and you're taking notes or doodling, why does it matter?  The important thing is that you're listening, and your homework and test answers will tell the teacher if you're doing a good job with that.

On the other hand, if the person speaking is doing something that you really need to see to appreciate -- then again I can understand that drawing might appear rude.

By college though, I kind of think anything goes.  It's up to the student to decide how they need to focus and take in information, and not up to the teacher to babysit.
