Connections Posted March 27, 2017 Share Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) I knew DS1 was ready for AP Language and Composition last year as a 9th grader. There was no question and I was right. :) Now, with my DS2, I cannot decide if I should have him take AP Language in 10th or 11th grade. Any advice on how to know whether your student is ready? OnMyOwn Posted March 28, 2017 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Is your son already very comfortable with writing full essays? Can he quickly generate ideas and elaborate on them? Can he make strong arguments and support them with evidence from his reading? Is he familiar with rhetorical devices and can he recognize another author's use of them as well as their tone and any more subtle message they are trying to convey?
