kalanamak
Where to order one, what kind (there are so many kinds now), and what length for an almost 4 foot kid, 5.5 y/o, strong and coordinated for age, with intense interest in anyone jumping rope. fiddledeedee
We have the regular 8 foot rope from here http://www.lovetolearn.net/catalog/index.lasso?page=hits&keyword=jump+rope I think the 16 foot would be fun if you had enough kids. Alas, I have only an 8 year old and a 2 year old! It's a nice jump rope though. HTH!
Maxine in WA
My dd was on the Jump Rope Team at school where they performed at many functions. Here is what they taught her: For proper measurement, have your child stand on the middle of the rope with both feet together, holding a handle in each hand. The rope should reach to the child's armpits (an inch longer is okay). For type of rope, plastic is easier to learn on than cloth. Performers and serious jump ropers always use plastic because it's easier to swing, therefore providing quick turns (makes tricks easier to do). Cloth jump ropes are best for aerobic workouts because they grab more air which means you exert more energy. As far as buying, her ropes were always provided for her. You could do an internet search. I think "Jump Rope for Heart" is a good starting point. Sorry I don't know the url. Good luck on your search. Jump roping is excellent exercise and I admire your child's interest.
