Pam L in Mid Tenn
You all will remember that last year I posted about my dd's illness. One of my main questions was about the number of written assignments to give her. I wanted to mainly give reading only assignments. Fast forward to now.... her first week in college..... We went over the syllabus for her sophmore level American History class together, AND....:) MOST of the assignments are reading to be prepared for class lectures. She'll have four tests, two short research papers, four short essays. The prof also has a list of historical movies to watch. That is the same or less than I usually assign for a 1 credit high school course. DD feels prepared for this class because "this is the way you assign things Mom." :D It will be interesting to see the assignments for all her classes. Her experience this semester WILL color the way I make assignments for my other children.
Cedarmom
Very interesting. I thought there would be more writing. My son starts college in the late fall, (no English classes this semester though) I'm curious as to how much writing he will have.
