Forensic Science experiments you can do at home

Recommended Posts

Hi. I don’t post much (obviously) but I thought I would share this in case it helps anyone else. I was looking for forensic science experiments that we could do at home without buying a bunch of supplies/kits, and I came across this website.

http://blog.makezine.com/science_room/

It is hosted by Robert Bruce Thompson, author of Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments: All Lab, No Lecture . Apparently he has also written (not published yet) similar guide to forensic investigations. Anyway, you can read more about it on the site, but the experiments look doable, and in the ones I’ve looked at so far, if there is a harder to obtain item used, he lists modifications and substitutions (like baby powder and printer toner instead of fingerprint dusting powder).

Hope this helps someone.

Rhonda
