gsesce
I've been using LOF Beginning Algebra, but wanted a bit more practice problems when I stumbled across this free online Algebra 1 book from the Arlington (NY) School District. You can print out any pages that you want. The only downside is that there is no answer key. Here's the site: http://www.teacherweb.com/ny/arlington/algebraproject/hf0.stm There is also a free online Algebra 2 with Trig book here: http://emathinstruction.com/id1.html I haven't looked too closely at that one yet, but a cursory glance looks promising. Susan C.
I wouldn't do it w/o the solutions manual, you will have to figure out each problem, then you still won't know if its right. When my son and I did algebra, sometimes we both got the wrong answer, thought for sure the key was wrong, but we were.
lgm
Know that in New York, the beginning of Alg. has been put in 8th grade (or 7th for accel. students). This year, my child's 8th grade non-accelerated class covered the equivalent of Dolciani's Algebra Str. & Method Bk 1 Ch. 1-8 and about half of Ch. 9&10. So..what you are seeing as ACSD Integrated Alg. I is not the same as traditional Alg. I. Here's more Algebra I resources from Glencoe: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/math/algebra/algebra1/algebra1_05/index.php4/ny Here's some from HRW. Kinda cool because they link the video lesson to go with the problems: http://go.hrw.com/gopages/ma/alg1_07.html For a whole lot of practice, go to the JMAP project...these fellas are trying to level the playing field between the ubertutored and the very poor by providing free help. They have linked resources from three other textbook publishers and have yet more problems after that. http://www.jmap.org/htmlsupport/JMAP_HISTORY.htm Edited June 22, 2009 by lgm
Capt_Uhura
Do you which addition of Dolciani the class used? I've read about this textbook and it seems the newer versions are not as desired as the older versions but I'm not sure why. Any thoughts on this? lgm
Apologies for my poor writing skills. My son's school does not use Dolciani; they do not use a text at all. We find Dolciani to be an excellent fillin for the poor quality lectures and problem sets the school assigns. I was only able to find a 90s edition used, so cannot compare to the earlier ones.
