momto2Cs
Having second, third, fourth thoughts about my curriculum choices for next year, so here's versions A and B. Please, go ahead and tear them apart! I do know that I want to use Saxon Math 3 and History Odyssey Ancients with him, so it's mainly language arts and science that I am struggling with. Third Grade, Version A Language Arts Oak Meadow 3 Language Arts (see pages 9 & 16 for samples) First Language Lessons 3 HWOT Cursive Maybe something like Story Starters or some other supplement? Science Oak Meadow 3 (see link above, pages 11 and 17) Version B Language Arts Explode the Code 5, 6 and maybe 7 HWOT Cursive Writing Tales 1 Would I need FLL 3? Science Classic Science - Elementary Life or Earth Similar debate going on for dd's first grade, mainly in language arts. Here's a sample of Oak Meadow 1 (see pages 11 and 16), or I could use: Explode the Code 1 & 2 or Phonics in Action FLL 1 HWOT Printing Power Thanks in advance - I hate indecision! diaperjoys
How do your kids like ETC so far? Are they doing well with it? My son did great for the first several books, then grew weary of the repetition. Now he uses BJU English/Phonics, and has really enjoyed the change. The colorful pics and the variety in the exercises are like candy to him. So much depends on the child!
momto2Cs
My son loves ETC. My daughter has so far only done the pre-books and is okay with them.
diaperjoys
Then maybe stick with what is working well for him? And keep the other options tucked away in the back of your mind for if they are needed down the road?
Guest
We love using ETC and FLL here. Both programs are easy to use, effective, and my kids have enjoyed them.
