Egyptian History using Non-fiction books

The Ancient Egypt treasure chest is great fun. It has crafts (all materials included) and a great little book.

These are other books we really enjoyed checking out from the library:

Egypt in Spectacular Cross-section by Stewart Ross and Stephen Biesty

Ancient Egypt (Make It Work! History) by Andrew Haslam. This may be out of print but you could get it used. It is full of excellent activites but is also a good read in itself.

The Dorling Kindersley Eye Witness Guides are quite detailed but she could dip in and out.

If she is interested in engineering then David Macauley's Pyramid would be a great read loud but that too is quite detailed.

I am not sure that it is non-fiction but our children really enjoyed the Egpytian myths. They know their Egyptian myths and culture very well after reading to them. In fact it would be difficult to appreciate Egyptian artefacts without knowing them.

We read Tales of Ancient Egypt (Puffin Classics) by Roger Lancelyn Green and, I believe it was, The Orchard Book of Egyptian Myths.
