As a family therapist I see that it is just this sort of gender difference that gets spouses in trouble with each other. To me, it wasn't about putting men down but about how men and women understand things such as love, affection and endearment so differently. For Christmas my dh went out picked out a top of the line power saw. He was so thrilled. Even though it cost much, much, much more than what I got for Christmas I'll take the earrings and L'Occitane body lotion any day over an expensive, funtional tool.
