SilverMoon
It's secular. Most of the books used have linked YouTube videos of them being read aloud, so you wouldn't need to order them ahead of time. The books, videos, etc she links to in this unit are "own voices," made and read by Indigenous people. https://mintandbloomlearning.com/store/p/indigenous-peoples-day-elementary-lesson-set Edited October 7, 2023 by SilverMoon
caffeineandbooks
Jumping on your bandwagon, @SilverMoon, to link to some free indigenous math art activities YouCubed has put up, created by indigenous artists in the US, Canada, Australia and NZ. https://www.youcubed.org/resource/indigenous-maths-art/
SilverMoon
That looks interesting too! 🙂 Native-land.ca is a good place to start too. You can see whose ancestral land you live on and learn more about them specifically. The nations' websites usually have great info, and occasionally educator guides. This year my 7th and 10th graders are learning more about how the Haudenosaunee's government inspired the US government, and we'll shop at a local Indigenous owned business (fresh fry bread!).
