James_and_Ann
(ooops! I posted this in the High School section and then realized that it actually belongs here instead. My bad.) Hello, Everyone! My son is on track to finish Math Mammoth Level 7 in a few months, so my wife and I are trying to decide on which program to use for Algebra 1. He's doing well in Math Mammoth 7 (and is a good math student in general), so our assumption is that he'll be ready for Algebra 1. We are considering Dolciani's Algebra 1 (we own the 1987 edition), but are unsure about whether there might be gaps between Math Mammoth 7 and Dolciani Algebra 1 since it is an older book/model of teaching. From my understanding, Dolciani, like Math Mammoth, is a mastery-based approach rather than spiral, so they do have that in common. I'd love to hear from any of you who've gone this route. How did it go? Any gaps? Any supplementation needed between MM7 and Dolciani? Thank you! James
LostintheCosmos
My son went straight from MM7 to Dolciani Algebra 1 with no problems and zero need for any supplementation or gap-filling, and I plan to do the same with the rest of my students. We used the 1981 edition.
